The Old Dog Asks: Tired? Would You Use One of These?

in #travel6 years ago

Recently while flying out of Milan I came across this solution to a common problem.

Zzzleep And Go!

Have you ever been stuck at the airport waiting for a connecting flight? Have you ever been exhausted while doing so? Could this be a solution that you would try?

There were two of these sleeping cabins adjacent to the washrooms. Photo mine

I tried to sneak a peak inside to see what it was all about. Photo mine

Here's a better shot taken from their website Hmmm... somewhat hospital like!

OK But How Much Does It Cost?

Here's a shot of the payment screen. You can see the price of the capsules at the Milano Malpensa Location

Did you see the price? 9 Euro per hour which is charged by the minute! A little steep but If I was exhausted I might use it to lay down for a power nap! If you book ahead from their website I see that you can get a capsule from 11 pm until 6 am for 49 Euro which would be 7 Euro per hour.

Here you can see that this particular company has their sleeping cabins in three different locations. Image source: Screen shot from the company's website at zzzleepandgo.com

At the hospital location you can get a capsule for 7 hours at 34 Euros. Image source: Screen shot from the company's website at zzzleepandgo.com

If you're wondering what others that have used these cabins have to say you can check out some reviews here.

What About You?

  • Have you ever used a similar type of service?
  • Would you ever consider doing so? If yes, just for a few hours or even an entire night?
  • Do you think this type of sleeping cabin will become more popular in the future?

Thanks for following me on my travels and I look forward to sharing my adventures with you.

Until next time,

Let's Succeed Together!

Sort:

comodissimo....ne avevo sentito parlare

It looks pretty cool!

It's probably not too expensive per hour (from the operator's viewpoint) when you consider it probably has to be cleaned after every use - even a use of only a few minutes where someone went in with some food and mad a mess. And much cheaper than trying to find a reasonably priced hotel room anywhere near an airport.

Valid points!

I never had that experience. But honestly I won't having that experience as well. If I have 45 Euro it might be easy to have a luxury room for an entire day. But this worthy for people in your country.@kus-knee,

Cheers~

Yes for sure, prices differ depending on location.

Pffft I sleep in the chair in the lobby for free. Trust me I can sleep anywhere at any time LOL

I'm a terrible sleeper. If you can sleep anywhere consider yourself blessed!

Never used! But I imagine this cabin is perfect for Asian countries ;-))

Very popular there I'm sure!

Interesting concept. I would try one if I would be super tired.
Resteemed :-)

Me too!

Wow! Better not oversleep. Leads to overdraft.

For sure!

looks a bit like a jail but would definitely use it. some airport-hotels have half day prices which are much higher.

Hey great idea about jails. If there are empty cells one could get a cheap room there.

that would definitely work, but probably hard to find empty jail cells these days!

I like it and the price are reasonable i think 9 euro per hour that is cool

Maybe I'll try it once!

yes it is a wonderful experience deserve million tries not just once or maybe million are not right 1M hours = 114.15 year lol what am i saying !

i thinks it's really good place if you feel really tired

No doubt!

I never saw that live but I saw a TV program that spoke about It in Japan..
Wow, 9 €/hour!? Really expansive sleeping...😄
I think It can be useful, with lower prices would be more used by people.

Yes I think that in Japan such things are very popular.

Just because of the wifi I would take on of those things if I have a longer stay in an airport.

I can imagine that this will become more popular. Sitting on the normal seats sucks if you have a lot of time on your hand.

Kick back and surf!

Awesome combination , If I need room - this is excellent solution. Can we pay with Steem :)

With Steem.....one day I'm sure. Let's wait for the the full integration of SMT's though.

i didn't know about that and it looks pretty interesting.

If you are travelling alone and you are extremely tired then it's a good solution especially if you have to wait many hours. If you are travelling with friends then you don't need this, you can take a nap and your friends will look after your stuff!

Thanks for your comment!

I can see this becoming more and more the norm. No more city commuting - just sleep in a pod!

I think so too!

I have never seen or use that kind of services. More over i have never been into a connecting flight. But when you have the money and feel too tired, that can be a good choice to recharge yoursedlf

They are starting to use them in places other than the airport too.

@kus-knee, I have never experience with like these machines of my country. If we're staying airport for flight long time it's biggest exhausted moment for anybody. I think machine need to help much to passengers speedy. But this one so poorly bad situation.

Yes it can be very tiring!

Advantages of technology. First, the evolution of technology is beneficial to humans for several reasons

Technology amazing day by day.Very wonderful hotel.Very beautiful washroom.Very amazing hotel.Italy is most beautiful country in the world.Very great sleeping cabin. And I think yes this cabin most popular in the future.Capsule price is so high.I m so enjoying your travel. Thanks for sharing dear@Kus-knee.

No i have never tried. But these look so technological.

This automation of rest believe that it can eventually become a competition in hotels and in the future will lead to lower tariffs. Anyway, look a bit of SF ...
I do not think I would use it unless I would be in great need.

Desperation sometimes calls.

It looks also like a place where you can be safe.

Well if i had to try something different then for sure will give that a try looks interesting :)

It might be fun.

Nope, just buy one of these and hang it in a WC stall ;-)

That looks comfy!

@ kus-knee excellent service, does not seem so expensive for the benefit it provides, here in Argentina I saw nothing like it. But if you are tired and have the service you would use it, feel good and rested is priceless and much more if you wait a long day to reach your destination
Thank you very much for letting us know this news

Thanks to you @jlufer

I think I would use one if I was tired and didn't feel like I could fall asleep safely where I was, but, I usually can take a nap anywhere, so it would be rare. ;)

Anyone who can fall asleep, where they are is blessed indeed! :)

First time i see a sleeping cabine like this jajajaj but for my personality i wouldnt use one of these, i think a hostal could be more cheaper and it doesnt look confortable at all is kinda weird

Weird can also be wonderful!

Honestly, I'm not that fussy I would just find a quite corner of the Airport where I wouldn't trip anyone up and dose off for free. My bag is my pillow - and I'm a light enough sleeper if anyone tried meddling with it I'd be on them like a greyhound to a rabbit.

I wish that I could say the same about being able to sleep anywhere. That's a blessing!

wuao se ve interesante, me gustaría probar algo nuevo je je siempre aveces hay que salir de lo normal

Thanks for the visit!

Quite a premium service @kus-knee and I would use it if i had the budget.

Interesting my friend. I thought of an idea like this years ago when I was working three jobs and was sleep deprived. I'm glad somebody ran with such an idea. I'm sure this Concept has been around long time and many have thought of it. The question is how much sleep do you really get in one of those? You may need something to completely knock yourself out and alarm clock to wake you. Thanks my friend @kus-knee

Good for a nap?

Interesting article. I think that this is a very interesting offer that will surely be in demand. I find it difficult to compare prices, but if the price is lower than the hourly hotels, then these rooms will be in great demand.

Yes it is difficult to compare prices without looking at hotels in the area.

This is funny as at first I thought it was the sleeping cabin on a plane and was going to shout with a resounding YES! I want to try one of those! But, as I read on I realized it is IN the airport and that you mentioned 'in the airport' I just got excited it was an onplane sleeping cabin.

But, No, I would not do this. I don't travel freqeuntly enough to make it worth my while, but it IS a good idea, I think.

Yes, being able to sleep like that while flying would be wonderful. Even better than first class which I have never been in by the way!

Wooo that looks interesting but also kind of small and pricey. I guess I could live without one of those but we never know maybe I might end up using one. I know my wife will for sure use one ( I still feel bad for LA connection of 4 hours from 12:30 am to 4:30 am to fly back to CR) and she remembers that as well.

Yes pricey but when I'm super tired............

Well if it makes you feel better and happier why not?

Wow, that is actually really cool. So do they like change the sheets everytime someone leaves? I wish they would rent out sensory depravation chambers. I think it would be neat to sit in complete silence for a while.

I hope that they change the sheets. There was a video explaining things but only in Italian.

A little more you get a cheap hotel room. :-)

I know what you mean but if you're stuck at the airport.........

Probable sound proof to a degree too.

Poorly, I never see this machine in my country. Its right machine to put in my workplace, because in court so many people with much problem. This machine help them to control their emotion. Thanks for sharing it sir @kus-knee.

Yes, it would be great at the workplace. I quick nap after lunch.

I don't mind the cramped size, i might even like it, but i might not fit, and that would be awful.

I don't feel i would ever use one because i am cheepskate, and would rather sleep sitting in a chair.

If you can sleep sitting up you're blessed!

It is true, but i don't have much experience trying it out.

As the Toilet Safety Administration have made it clear that i should never step foot inside an airport in The US.

I guess that there's a story there somewhere.

I'm sure they are kidding about the chemotherapy.

I didn’t see that.

Haha... there was a couple of times I posted picture and people told me things I didn't see too.
That's what's cool about steemit. :-)
