I'm not a Brit or did i leave Canada, I lived on the east coast and moved 4500km away to the west near the Canadian Rockies, feels like another world out here because of the distance. I can certainly relate to all of your points. The food and cultures being different, FOMO is something I never cared about when I lived home , now that i'm here it strikes me from time to time. I have great adventures in the wild here that my friends get envious about and see it as bragging, when actually it's just my life as they tell me theirs, they don't always see that we have different definitions of living. I would like to add guilt trips about doing well in my career when they may not, that's the reason I left in the first place because of limited future available if I had stayed. Last time I retured, it was a 30 days of visiting my home province because I took it for granted and never went when I lived there. I meet some ppl from my home town and just for having that in common it does form new friendships. Your post is great and brought up lots that I don't really consider but found to be very accurate once I thought about it.

'they don't always see that we have different definitions of living' YES. This is so unbelievably accurate. That's all it is really - difference of perspective. Thank you for taking the time to share this. I completely agree with you!
