Hi Steemit Friends:
I’ve dreamed of moving to New York for a very long time. Something about the energy of the city, its cultural and occupational diversity just attracts me. If you've read in my post 6 mo ago I've talked about doing this for a while after my world trip. And now I've finally done it!! So many people move here from all over the world to chase their dreams. People say New York chews you up and spits you back out. But maybe just maybe it’ll groom me to be a better stronger person coming out than I was coming in.
So a few years ago when I first graduated Optometry school I took a trip to New York in the winter to see if I could handle it. Being a girl born and raised in sunny Southern California my biggest fear was none other than THE COLD…. and of course… ghosts and bugs. I came just around Christmas time so I could experience the holidays in this wonderful city. All the bright twinkling lights, all the music and Christmas cheer in the air. I was so excited!! It was so cold it literally took me an hour to get out of the hotel everyday and I thought to myself. “ Man if I can’t even get out bed to go look at Christmas decorations. How am I going to make it to work?” So I canceled my plans to move to NY and moved to San Francisco instead.
After a year living in SF I fell in love with the city. I knew that if I didn't move to New York soon, I might never do it. Better to go and know how its like. If I love it, then good thing i moved. Id i hate it, then at least I know and I would have no regrets. With this decision it was time to do the things that'd been on my mind before embarking on my next chapter. I took a big trip and traveled the world for half a year. During that time I saw so many amazing things and experienced so much of this wonderful world. I left at the end of my trip with a full heart at peace and ready for the next big step. One last stop to soak in the warmth at Burning Man and I was finally in New York!
It was a long journey. But boy am I glad to be here….
