Sicily - the island of history, food, and beauty
Sicily is one of the best places I have ever visited. The island is so big and diverse I decided that I had to split the post into two parts! So let's take a look at the east side of the island.
We took the train from Naples to Catania which was a very relaxing trip. We got into Catania and promptly went to sleep, our next day the adventure began!
Catania
The lovely administrative capital of the east is a town worth visiting! We had a cool little Airbnb close to the center. The town is really lovely, particularly in the evening. Very chill place overall. A week was not enough to eat our way through all of the tasty things. Keep an eye out for super giant baked onions, tasty snack!
Syracuse
One of ancient Greece's most important towns is today a sleepy tourist town with not so many tourists. We wished that we had stayed there instead of Catania. This town is so lovely. Check out the oranges, seriously best oranges EVER!!!!!!!!
Chiaramonte Gulfi
Want to get off of the tourist trail and find something totally authentic, check out this little village in the mountains!
Ragusa
One of Sicily's best preserved old towns. An interesting experience due to the utter lack of other tourist. Seriously I thought Italy was supposed to be busy. But it seems everyone just goes north or hits the beaches!
Thanks for checking out my travel report. Watch out for Italy - Part 3, coming to your Steemit soon!
