Hello Steemians,
We leave Bratislava to go to...
- Fourth city : Budapest. Again, we didn't find a couchsurfer, so we spent all of our stay in a youth hostel. We didn't sleep very well. It was really warm, so we had to keep the windows opened during the night and we could hear all the traffic. Budapest is a very noisy city. With my friends, we liked to say that it was Gotham city because you could always hear a siren, alarms,... And it was a bedroom that we shared with maybe, six other people, so it wasn't very comfy. The "concierge" was very weird. He didn't talk a lot, and he looked so much like Hodor in GOT. He wouldn't give us a key, God knows why !
Budapest is a city with two "sides" (Buda & Pest, which we combined in the 19th century), connected by a bridge. It is a lovely city. We didn't visit actively, it was more roaming around. We were a little bit tired so we sat a lot by the river and chilled out. Some parts of Budapest are really poor, and it is a common thing to see a lot of homeless people in the streets.
With my friends, we had the project to get a tattoo during this trip. In Slovakia, we found the tattoo, and in Budapest we made it. We went to a tattoo shop, but one of my friend let us down and didn't do it. I was the first one to go, and I could see my friends' face changing while hearing the sound of the needle. Fortunately, my other friend followed me and did it too. It was our first tattoo. It is just a sentence that says "Na ceste". In Slovakian, it means "On the road".
That night, after we got our tattoo, we met again our Belgian fellows to have a drink in a bar (yeah, we spent a lot of time in the bars). It was a very good night. Unfortunately, after saying goodbye, we got lost in the subway. It was all my fault. So it took us about an hour and a half to get back to the youth hostel. At the beginning, we were just twenty minutes from our place. At 6 in the morning, you could see three girls sitting in the subway, looking like zombies while some people were going to work. And, because Hodor wouldn't give us the keys, we had to ring at the door early in the morning and all the other guests just hated us. The worst part is that we couldn't sleep a lot because we had to give the room back at 10.
Our stay in Budapest got more tiring when we had to sleep in the street. You read well ! Let me explain :
We wanted to go to Zagreb, in Croatia, but the next train was only early the next morning. And, it was about 10/11 in the night. Because we were sure to go to Croatia, we hadn't booked for a room, and we had nowhere to go. So we stayed next to the train station, laying on the floor in our blankets. It was a super cold and super long night (I told you in the last article that it was the beginning of a chaotic trip).
An advice : don't do like us, it was a very dangerous thing to do. Especially for three foreign girls. It is always better to try to find a last minute thing than spending the night outside.
Budapest was a really nice city. We had a lovely time. Some buildings have a beautiful architecture and it is nice to walk in its streets.
