Traveling through Costa Rica gave me one of the coolest experiences ever on this wonderful planet...
Climbing on top of a tree, from the INSIDE!!
These trees are calles ficus trees and in this case can be found close to the cloud forest of Monteverde, Costa Rica.
The ficus vines actually wrap around another tree and the more the ficus grows, it's literally strangling the other tree to death. I know, pretty horrific, but that's how this cool ficus climbing tree is made! The dead tree will rot away and - tadaaaaa - all that is left is a hollow channel, ready for some climbing action!
You can go all the way up and get out of the channel, to sit in between the crown of the tree! Can you still see me up there?
Looking down is also kinda crazy... A good 60 ft above the ground people look so small down there!
It was really an experience of a lifetime, exhilarating and marvellous! Go check it out yourself when you are in Costa Rica, you will be rewarded!

tooo cool! what a neat experience that must have been! is it a well know touristy spot or would you have to point it out on a map?
It was!! You can find it easily on the map off the app MAPS.ME (best offline map for travelling, completely free!), but alsp locals would know about it and can point it out for you. It's hidden away from the road a bit, so I would say its easiest found with the map app (just type ficus tree and you'll find it :)
