Indonesia ep.4: The double "s" (sea and sunsets) and just one downside

in #travel7 years ago

So after yesterday's post about the trash scattered around Kuta Beach I think it's time for something visually beautiful again :)

While traveling in Bali we decided to stay in Legian for a few days (wouldn't really go there the second time but for our beginner days in Bali it was exactly what we needed). We rented a very cute villa for 4 nights and just enjoyed the beach, the surf and of course the sunsets. Legian is actually a beach connected to Kuta (about a 15 minutes stroll on the beach). I never understood why there were so many people on Kuta (we could see them from the distance every day), but there were just a few on Legian where the beach was cleaner. I guess there's not much logic to people's actions sometimes.

One more thing about Legian, and then I'll leave you with the pictures: watch out for the money exchange offices. There were so many on the main commercial street and they had such different rates that we were very confused at first. Eventually we decided to choose one that had a medium to good rate. It was kind of strange that the two man that were operating the exchange invited us in an isolated room in the back of the street. But they were very friendly and there was two of us at that time so we went for it. Everything looked fine, we counted the money just before we got out of the room, or at least that's how I remember it. To this day I don't understand what happened, but when I tried to pay for something the same day I realized I was missing about 30 - 40 dollars. The same with my boyfriend. After more documentation on the internet we discovered that more people had the same experience in different places in Bali. We thought about going to the police but it probably didn't make any difference, I'm pretty sure they were hand in hand with the exchange offices, there were just to many on that street and all of the different rates were most probably set just to get travelers confused. So just watch out for this if you're traveling to Bali ;)

Oh, but let's stay with the good vibes! The sun, the sea, the sunsets were amazing!
