The Kindness of Strangers

in #travel • 7 years ago

Hello once again Steemit 😊 I missed including this picture in my original ‘introduce yourself’ post so I’m adding it to the start of this one. (Meanwhile trying to cope with my inner perfectionist’s disappointment over not following instructions clearly)

Ok. Moving on. Today I wanted to share the story of our (my partner Ross and I’s) arrival into Copenhagen from Florida yesterday: the start of a month-long journey through Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. While every logistical detail of this journey has been meticulously planned, the rest is completely up to chance. I love approaching a journey with no expectations at all and seeing where it takes me (besides the physical locations obviously due to a tight travel schedule)

After a tedious day of travel and suffering from a serious lack of sleep, we arrived into Copenhagen, Denmark last night. We hopped into a taxi to get to our hostel in the city centre and as I always do, started having a chat with the driver about our days travels and asking him for his recommendations in this new city.

The driver immediately came out of his professional ‘shell’ and excitedly told us which restaurants to try and which Christmas themed spots we had to check out. And best of all, he wrote them down for us. Perhaps he could see our memories weren’t at their best by that point. 10 minutes later, we had an itinerary for our time in Copenhagen.

So today, we will set out and discover one locals’ recommendations and it seems we have a full day ahead of us! Thank you Jens, we look forward to discovering your city.
From stranger to taxi driver to tour guide – it’s always the people you meet along your journeys that make them so very special.

I will be posting blogs and vlogs from this journey here but you can also following along on my other profiles:

SMile :)

Thanks for the Photo verification!

Steemit is a huge learning curve. Don't ever feel bad if "you don't get it right the first time".

But now is a great time to be on Steemit. The SBD and Steem market conditions are making those small payouts be worth a little bit more.(again... don't do it for the money, but it is always nice@!)

Hope you are having a great time!
Thx

Thanks again for the help :) Yes, it definitely seems like it and I'm excited to learn as I go. The community has already made it worth it!
