Alor is a tourist little archipelago of about 20 islands located in the province of East Nusa Tenggara; The inhabitants of this region have a strong cultural identity and are deeply rooted in their traditions.
I have had the pleasure of visiting Alor twice; the first was in May 2017 when I stayed 10 days with a group of friends doing camping on the beach and, the second was this past August, when I was invited by the Ministry of Tourism of Indonesia in the trip "Trip of Wonders "
What to do in Alor?
Explore the beaches
Visit the town of Takapala
Swimming with Dugongs
The dugongs are mammals of the order of the sirenids. In Alor one of the locals knows how to communicate with them, so if you hire their services, they will take you with their small boat in the middle of the sea, in the area where they live and once there they will use sounds to make them come.
We put the letters and we submerged in the water. I only appreciated one, but it was an incredible experience.
In spite of being the smallest sirénido of all, it can get to measure three meters. The one we saw was about 2 meters tall and pregnant.
Scuba Diving and snorkelling
The crystal clear waters of Alor, the colors of the seascape and the great diversity of underwater life make this one of the best destinations to dive in Indonesia.
Hike
Love is of volcanic origin; its land is characterized by having several mountains. I recommend climbing to the top of some of them to observe the beauty of their land.
Get on a boat and explore the islands
If you are going to do scuba diving, you can take advantage of dives to explore the wonderful islands of Alor and if you are not fond of scuba diving, I recommend you to get on the boat and visit the islands. I assure you that you will not regret it.
