"You're not a hero until you've been to the Great Wall" --- this famous Chinese quote by Mao Zedong has struck me ever since Asian History was taught during my high school years. I promised myself that someday I will set foot on this historical wall. Luckily, I got a chance to visit China last Winter and I must say that there's more to China than just the Great Wall.
Point and shoot: Down to Chinatown!
If you plan to go on a tour in Beijing, here are some of the go-to places that she has to offer:
Tiananmen Square
We started our tour at Tiananmen Square. It's a huge square built in the center of Beijing.
(us strolling around in Tiananmen Square)Forbidden City
After Tiananmen Square, our next tour was the Forbidden city which used to be the Imperial palace of China. It's just a walking distance from Tiananmen Square. Here's a photo of me inside the Forbidden City:
Summer Palace
An imperial Garden of China, used to be the King's favorite vacation palace.
(Photo upon entering the palace)Temple of Heaven
This is a religious place of devotion for China's emperors.Ming Tombs
A burial place of China's emperors. The Great Wall
Lastly, we then went to the main attraction of my Beijing tour which is ths Great Wall!!! The wall, as we all know, was built as protection against foreign invaders. According to our tour guide, it's made of brick, stones and surprisingly, some horse poop??? (trust me I didnt believe it at first either!) which was used to put the materials together.
So these are my top 6 must-see places in Beijing. I'm so glad I got a chance to experience and feel the ancient Chinese history and culture. If you get a chance to visit Beijing, make sure you make this list a part of your trip. If there's anything you can add, please feel free to comment on my post. Thanks!

Why did you say the great wall was made of horse poop?
According to our tour guide it's made of bricks and stones and horse poop was used to put them together. I didnt believe it at first either but our tour guide seemed serious when she said that.
