When my tour guide recommended me to have my lunch in this brewery restaurant, I didn't know that it was a restaurant branch that belongs to a brand with a long heritage. After I researched more about this place, I found out that this company is the oldest independent brewery in Munich, Germany's current capital. Berlin was the former capital of Germany. According to Wikipedia, this Augustiner Brewery started as early as 1328 within a monastery called the Augustinian Monastery.

Certain restaurants in Europe do not provide English menus. However, this Augustiner am Gendarmenmarkt restaurant provides menus in both German and English. This makes it a lot easier for me to order my food.

This is the restaurant’s recommended dish – Crisp Pork Knuckle in One Piece (1000g) served with Bavarian Cabbage. It is so delicious. Look at how crispy the skin is. The meat is tender and juicy. Recommended for 2 people to share if you are not a big eater.

They also offer vegetarian options but they are quite limited. They are only 3 non-meat dishes on the menu. This is one of them and it is called Spinach ricotta cheese ravioli with tomato ragout and rocket salad. The taste is decent but nothing much to praise about.

This is a brewery restaurant so it is recommended to try the beers. I ordered 3 different types of beers here. From left to right, Augustine's most famous beers, Augustiner Helles Lagerbier, Augustiner Edelstoff, and Augustiner Dunkel. All of these beers are fresh from the tap. Augustiner Edelstoff is refilled daily from the original wooden barrel. Each beer has its own unique taste.
