Last weekend, my office had organized a trip for all the employees to Masinagudi. Not many people know about this place which is located right beside the main town of Ooty, in the state Tamil Nadu of India. It's famous for the Mudumalai National Park and for trekking. Located at such high altitude, it's always freezing here during the morning and night. Be prepared for the drizzle and rain surprises.
Since it was a sponsored trip, everything was taken care of by the company. All we had to do was get on a bus from Bangalore from where it takes only about 5-6hours to reach. A beautiful grand resort was booked for us. Situated on top of a small hill, it had the perfect view of the entire town. In the morning, the fogs were so dense that it took us a while to adjust to it. With a playground, swimming pool, play area, buffet and huge cottages, the resort was a great place to stay. At night we set up a campfire to heat ourselves from the chilly wind.
Early in the morning, the very next day, we set off for trekking. It was merely a 3km trek so luckily for us we still had the strength for sight seeing throughout the day. I think office trips are a great initiatives by the companies as it helps in team bonding and works as a ice-breaker for the newbies too.
Late in the afternoon we decided to cover the national park. Although we were told that we'll come across tigers and lions on the trail, they were nowhere to be found. We did see elephants, peacocks, turkeys, deer etc on the way. It was a 1hr safari ride through the jungle .
The next day we stayed at the resort playing cricket, football and participating in other team-bonding activities. It was a great trip as it gave us an opportunity to know our fellow workers better and helped in strengthening the unity of our team. I think every company should take such initiatives as it gives the employees a much needed break from their tiring work and routine. Looking forward to many such trips in the near future :)
