Welcome to Shakespeare's humble abode in Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwick, England, where he was born and had spent his childhood. Though it is a small house by today's standard but at the time, his home was considered spacious with several separate rooms. However, when we visited his house, it was not as lavishly furnished by today's standard. In fact, the rooms had the bare minimum of furniture, but they were necessary furnishings in a home, such as table and chairs. His home was well-organized and had a big backyard and a nice garden.
Shakespeare was a great man and had made significant contribution to English literature and in its own way, would be considered a renaissance of the time. Despite his greatness in the literature world, he lived a simple life, with simple means and simple expectation. His life was devoted to his writings, as a means to express his life and world views.
It's surprising his house remains in such good shape.
I visited Stratford-upon-Avon in 2001 when I was touring England, Scotland and Wales. It was a very interesting place and a enjoyed it very much. (I live in Texas, USA)
