Taxis in Prague are big problem here's why...
We all know that feeling, when you get out of the plane and you arrived in a country you've never been and you just want to get to your apartment or you're in the city and you don't really know where to go, so you stop a taxi. Well, it's not the best idea, you should really take your time and use public transport and safe a lot of money.
Why not taxi in Prague??
- It's way cheaper and you can experience more Prague when you are trying to find your destination by walk our by public transport
- I hate to say it but we have a lot of shady taxis riders, especially in the city center or in the airport. I'm not saying the majority of taxi drivers are bad, but usually tourist have higher chance to get scammed and they often take taxis in the city center then the locals (we actually don't use taxis almost at all) where the shady taxi drivers operate. They usually overcharge you, the standart is around 24 Kč (czech crown, 1 euro is around 27 Kč) per kilometer, and they sometimes take much higher, you must be thinking hmmm okey so do they take like 30-40 Kč per kilometer? NO! I even saw someone taking 130 Kč per kilometer!! It's horrible!!!
So if you are in Prague, just use public transport, the ticket for the whole day is around 3,5 euros, or just use an uber, you have guarantee that they will not scam you and it will be even cheaper!
