If you're anything like me, you love a fun adventure and day outing but do not always have the funds to support this dream of yours to have a memorable day. Fortunately, I have friends who can also come up with great ideas and thus we decided to take a scenic drive around Cape Point, starting in the Cape Town CBD as well as ending there and making a day of it and stopping wherever the view is breathtaking.
First stop: Mouille Point!
This was just a quick stop to kickstart the day, smoke a cigarette while enjoying the view of the beautiful Atlantic ocean and plan the route forward.
Second stop: Camp's Bay Beach
Just a note, these boulders are next to the white sandy beach and the beach does not only have boulders. It was a really popular beach day so to avoid all the people we decided to stroll along on these boulders.
Third stop: Approximately a kilometer further...
This was a random stop along the way between Oudekraal and Camp's Bay. It was too beautiful to not stop and it was also to find our friend on his motorbike. We were four friends that travelled together; three in a car and another lonely soul on his bike.
Fourth stop: Hout Bay
Here we stopped at the Hout Bay Market. What you're seeing here is obviously the female bathroom door, then it is a selection of t-shirts available at one of the stalls and then some sheep dolls at another craft stall. We also enjoyed some pizza and beer here while listening to all the different languages of the people that visit our beautiful country.
Fifth stop: Chapmans Peak Drive
This is obviously breathtaking. This photo was taken with my phone and for that I apologise as this is a view worth seeing perfectly. This is Hout Bay in the distance and along the pass are plenty of stopping points with benches to have a picnic or just to sit and take in the view.
Sixth stop: Simon's Town (Boulders Beach)
We stopped here to see if we might see any penguins without going in and paying and we diiiid!! Boulders beach is the penguin sanctuary beach in Simon's Town and is fantastic. For a fee you can go into the reserve and lounge on the beach as well as swim with the penguins. We were, as stated before, on a budget and decided to check it out from the parking lot and were still fortunate enough to see plenty. After this we went to a local bar for a drink before hitting the road again.
Final stop: Signal Hill
Signal Hill is where you go to get a panoramic view of Cape Town city center, Table Mountain, Sea Point, Robben Island and the ocean. As can be seen here Table Mountain and Lion's Head was a bit camera shy that day and hid behind the clouds. Unfortunately, the clouds failed to bring us some rain.
*All photos were taken with my phone and I apologise for the quality as well as my bad attempt at making collages to fit all my photos in.
The Cape is so pretty, as soon as your water plight is no longer a problem (I really hope soon) a visit is totally overdue @maretha94 our hideout for holidays has been Bakoven since I was young.
