12 hours in Bogotá (photos)

in #travel7 years ago

I like to travel. Like, a lot. So I'm gonna use this to write about it. A couple months ago I was in Bogotá but just for a few hours: I was catching my flight to Santiago. Since the last time I was there I was like two years old, I couldn't miss the opportunity to walk this city. So I'm gonna tell you my story so you know what you can do in Bogotá if you just have a couple hours.

As soon as I got to El Dorado airport I left my suitcases there (they have the option of paying something so your packages are sure) and I used the Transmileno to get to downtown. My first stop was the Museo Nacional de Colombia, a beautiful place with tons of amazing pieces. The ticket was really cheap. I can't remember how much exactly, but I think that I paid less than a dollar.

After that I walked all over La Candelaria, the historical part of the city. The catedral and the Bolívar Square are there, and they're insanely beautiful (but with a lot of pigeons).

By now, I was with a friend walking around. We went to eat Ajiaco and ITS THE MOST AMAZING SOUP IN THE WHOLE WORD and I'm not even sorry for the capslock.

There are a couple of restaurants just blocks away from the Bolívar Square. We ate at La Puerta de la Tradición, located in Calle 11, and please, if you have the chance, do that too. In that street is "El mejor ajiaco del mundo", but, according to my colombian friend, that's not even close to the best ajiaco in the world :)

Then we kept walking towards the part of La Candelaria I didn't knew. It was amazing, they were people dancing tango on the streets (made me feel at Argentina for some reason, haha) and with the most amazing weather ever. Not too cold, not too hot.

We went to this library that was also a coffee shop just to talk about life and listen (and drink hot chocolate. Did I mention I love food?)

By that moment I need to go back to the airport because I was meeting another friend there. We got stuck in the traffic (as usual in that city) but I managed to get there on time to go to Crepes & Waffles and eat the most amazing waffle ever. God I think I gained like 5 pounds just that day haha.

I remember that day like one of the best days of this year. That was my intention writing this: letting you know that there's never a thing like "too little time" to have fun.
