Travel blog#2 Western Hipster - Labyrinth in Toledo city, Cebu Philippines

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

The Queen City of the south is indeed has many wonderful places to offer. From natural wonders down to man-made tourist's destinations, Cebu never failed to impress me. It is so funny why my fellow cebuano spend so much money buying airplane tickets going to wonderful places when they can enjoy it here in our own land.

Toledo City is located in the west part of Cebu and is well known for their vast copper mining industry which has been the source of their economic growth. Aside from mining, Toledo City is slowly becoming popular through their recently discovered tourist destinations.

Feel the western vibe in Capilla Santa Ana Museum Toledo City, Cebu. The chapel is located in Sitio Santa Ana, Barangay Ibo, Toledo City and is privately owned by the native toledo citizen Lilian Yareda, who is married to a Canadian citizen Michael Overs. If you're fond of antiques and classical atmosphere, this is the perfect place for you. Its European inspired architecture will surely take you to the other side of the world, from its facade up to its furniture, you'll really forget that you're just in Cebu.

Entering the chapel, you will see the European Renaissance paintings embellished in a symmetrically designed interior. It is also filled with religious icons and sculptures all over the corner. There is also a replica of the pieta, one of Michaelangelo's famous masterpieces. The chapel have rooms intended for prayer room, baptistry, museum, and classroom.

Having there will really waken up your theological being, the sanctity of the place and the coziness of the atmosphere will give you a vibrant feel of humility and peace.

finally, the one that owns the talk of the town- their famous Labyrinth. The said Labyrinth will be seen just beside the chapel. Estimated around 25 meters and would take about 5 minutes of walking before you'll be on the center, the wonderful scenery of the maze will excite you to get trapped into it and feel the western mood.

The chapel has an entrance fee of 200 for foreign people, 100 for the locals and 50 for the students. They also have tourists guide that would help you.

The overall travel experience was lit. I didn't expected to experience that western mood and the relaxing aesthetic feels. I would recommend to wear your best hipster outfit for there will be a lot of picture perfect corners there. See you to my next travel!
