Morocco, with three kid's in a tent.

We do like to do thing's a bit different, and taking a tent to north Africa with 3 kid's is proof of that fact.

Before we built our tiny house truck we lived and travelled around in caravans.

So there we were in the south of Spain parked up on my friends land, and I said to Louise "let's leave the caravan here and take the tent to Morocco."
At this point, Louise usually says something like "really, are you sure that's a good idea?" but she was really up for it, so the next day we did exactly that, packed the tent and the kids and drove to Morroco.

Some friends of our's had already been to Morocco and they loved it, and it was only a 3-hour drive followed by a 45-minute boat trip from Algeciras in southern Spain to Tangier Med in northern Morocco.
Before going we asked around for tips, where to go, and where not to go. I had also read a lot about Morocco (the night before)
and we got the impression that it was a lovely country, but you do get hassled a lot by pussy salesmen who don't take no for an answer and that we should watch out for scams.
Me being me, I was confident I could fend off any pussy salesmen. If you have read any of my previous posts you'll know my rocky past made me very street wise and I am no pushover, oh and if you have not read any of my other posts then I HIGHLY recommend that you do, they have been very well received by the Steemit community. Ok enough blowing my own trumpet and back to Morroco

The first town we stopped at was chefchaouen, only a two-hour drive from the boat.

Chefchaouen or Chaouen, often called by Moroccans, is a popular tourist destination as it is close to Tangier and the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. The name comes from the shape of the mountain tops above the town, that look like the two horns (chaoua) of a goat. "Chef Chaouen" comes from the Berber word for horns, chawen. Yes, I did google that bit, at least I'm honest.
They do have a campsite but it was late when we arrived so we just stayed in a hotel
One thing that is good to know about Morocco is you should always haggle on the price of everything, so I tried this first at the hotel and got a third off the price, happy days.

We woke up had some breakfast and off we went, it was a bit of a treck into town from the hotel but we were sick of the car so we walked. We did notice that we were the only foreigners around and was wondering if this was a tourist destination, but the locals were all smiles and they seemed to love our kids, and when we got a bit lost people pointed us in the right direction.

Just before we reached the touristy bit we stumbled across a flea market, and then a food market, again not a single tourist in sight.
The produce was great and soooooooooooo cheap, I really started to realise how much we get ripped off back in Europe, and not only was it cheap it tasted amazing.

Then we took a taxi to the Medina, we had finally made it to the touristy part and started to spend our tourist tokens on camel wool jumpers, old Moroccan tea pots and beautiful fabrics.

A lot of the building in Chaouen have a gorgeous blue rinse that covers not only Chaouen's houses but its mosques, government buildings, public squares and even its lampposts.
The custom dates back to the 15th century when Jewish refugees fleeing the Spanish Inquisition settled in large numbers in Chaouen.

It has to be one of the most beautiful towns I have been to, the blue has a very calming effect, or maybe it was the smell of weed coming from the locals smoking kif outside the cafe in the main square.

The shops have an amazing array of handcrafted treasures, we got a bit carried away and ended up spending a lot of money.

We really enjoyed our time in Chefchaouen, and would highly recommend it, the people, the arts and crafts, the produce, the buildings, the whole experience was truly breathtaking.

Oh and I'm not sure if it's because we had kids, but we did not get hassled one bit, no pushy salesmen, no scams just smiley happy locals who all seemed to fall in love with our three amazing children.

Next stop was Cascades D’ouzoud which is about 1.5hrs north-west of Marrakesh.
We found a beautiful campsite, by far the best campsite ever, in the world, and we found out after that it was voted Marocco's best campsite.

The coolest toilet in the whole world..........Ever!

We pitched the tent and took a stroll to the town.
Cascades D’ouzoud is home to Morocco's highest waterfall with the highest fall being a total of 328 feet (100 meters), the sheer size and enormity of them are quite impressive. I have never seen anything like it and there is no safety barrier like Niagra Falls.

I'm going to let the pictures speak for them self's for a bit..................Enjoy!

"NOT ANOTHER FAMILY FOTO DAD" "ok last one I promise"

DSC_0245.JPG

Wow, what an amazing place. speechless. Nuff said!

We also went to Casablanca and Tangier, but these were big cities like any other, apart from the shops and Madina's were much cooler, and even here the salesmen left us alone, I had one guy ask me if I wanted some garlic, I said no thank you (in Arabic) he smiled at the kids gave them a gentle pat on the head and went on his way.

Morocco is by far the most Beautiful country I have ever been to and the people are very welcoming, yeah I know you might be thinking "of course they are nice to you, you're a cash cow" but the truth is they didn't want our money as they were much more interested in our kids, they truly love kids and family in Morocco and we felt this wherever we went.

When we told our family's we were in Morocco they all seemed a bit worried because while we were there the Paris terror attacks were going off. I quickly put them at ease by telling them how safe we felt in Morocco, the fact is that 99.99999% of Muslims are lovely kind, friendly, family orientated people. and if you just smile and are friendly then that's all you back from Moroccans.

Our best friends back in Sweden are a Family from Syria, and yes they are Muslim, whenever we go to their place for a meal, we get treated like royalty, they are truly genuine people, with hearts of gold, family and friends means everything to them and for these reasons they will always have a special place in my heart.......forever.

I suppose what I'm saying is that if we all stopped watching the news, and stopped believing it, then we would not have any misconceptions about Muslims, yes there are terrorists that are Muslims but nowhere near as many as we are lead to believe.
There might be 000.0001% of Muslims that are terrorists, but that's only because 999.99999% of our governments are terrorising their countries all in the name of profit and greed, And until we replace these vermin running our countries then it will only get worst.

Peace and love to the World!

What beautiful pictures you took of your trip.

I would suggest removing the tag 'steemit' as this isn't about steemit. You may get a flag for abusing that most popular tag.

thanks, i took your advice. im fairly new to steemit, still learning. thx

You could add the tag 'family' .
