It’s been very long two years since covid-19 changed our lifes to indescribable scenarios. I haven’t crossed any border since January 2020., so I was even happier to make plans with my old friend who lives in Novi Sad to give her a quick visit.

Novi Sad is second largest city in Serbia and capital od Vojvodina region. 🇷🇸 It lies on Danube river. No offence to Seina, Volga, Rhine or Mine, but Danube is the most powerful river in Europe. Or so the people living here say. The locals’ love for river Danube is beyond words. It is “decorated” by various bridges. Walking around, I rested by Duga (Rainbow) bridge that leads right to Petrovaradin Fortress, nicknamed “Gibraltar on Danube”. The Fortress looks fairytaleish both night and day time, and it’s history (it was built in 17. century) attracts tourists, as well as Exit festival there in July. Exit is one of the biggest music festival, not only in region, but in the Europe.

Our apartment here is located by Fish Market, so the early spring sun invited us yo go for a walk and explore a bit. No photos were taken here because I forgot to take pictures, but I saved a mental picture instead. So far, I figured out that one of the best way to get to know city is by visiting markets, parks and bookstores. ;-)

Danube park is one of city symbols with more then 250 different plants and a little lake in park center. Locals come here to sit on the bench, walk or ride a bike, which is also very, very popular thing to do in Vojvodina :-) Legend says that first bike came to town in 1880. They call it “bajs”, just so you know if you decide to visit this charming city, that is also European Culture Capital for 2022.

I am coming again in summer. If you would like some more insider tips on things to do here or places to visit, feel free to write me.
Oh, and the books, for us bookworms, are much cheaper here then, for example, in Zagreb so.. I did my shopping properly.

Hugs from beautiful Vojvodina. Sun is shining and it’s 16 degrees, much better then expected.
