El Amparo is a town located in the west of Apure state in Venezuela, on the border with Colombia, on the banks of the Arauca river, it is an important border point between Venezuela and Colombia for its commercial exchange with the city of Arauca. The Arauca River is a river that rises in the Cordillera Oriental in Colombia and flows into the Orinoco in Venezuela, on the border between the states of Apure and Bolívar.
