BOULDERS BEACH
On the way back from Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point we went for the East side of the peninsula, going along the coast. A necessary stop was Simon's Town. There was a beautiful beach call 'Boulders Beach'. When I know that I was going to South Africa it was one of the places I really wanted to go to. This beach is a nature reserve, with fine sand and amazing cristal water, also with beautiful granite boulders, that's where its name come from. These rocks have been modeled by the sea erosion for more than 500 millions of years.
One of the most interesting things of this beach is that, apart from being beautiful, is home to a colony of African penguins since 1982. In that year arrived two penguins couples and have been increasing the family that, 35 years later, have created a colony of more than 3000 specimens.
These birds can be observed from a very short distance, wandering freely in their habitat.
The colony is located in a protected bay, but in the nearby beaches, set up for people, we have the chance to swim with the penguins.
That looks astonishing. Very beautiful place. If I ever manage to visit Africa, South Africa and Egypt will be on my top list. Beautiful photos and good article. I upvoted you. :)
Thank you for your comment @freedomnation
Penguins in the direction of South Africa. What is the name of that country?
What do you mean @masaa? The country is South Africa
You wonder what made 2 penguin couples just decide to go there? LOL, beautiful pictures!
