When it comes to weather, a lot of people have different preferences, some like it hot, some like it cold, while others like it average. Hot weather does not suit everyone especially people who sweat excessively. Cold weather doesn't everyone too but some people just love it. Some people move to colder region when it gets hot because of their love for such weather. Below are some really cold places people live, if you love exploration like I do then check it out.
- Oymyakon, Russia: It doesn't just hold the coldest inhabited region for the fun of it, it's really very cold. In this year 2018, it plunged to -62°C which even broke the thermometer. The coldest temperature ever seen there is - 67.7°C which is the lowest ever reading outside Antarctica. It so cold in Oymyakon that people's eyelashes gets frozen.
- Yakutsk, Russia: Taking the second position is Yakutsk, the coldest major city in the world. The lowest temperature recorded in Yakutsk was - 64.4°C on 5 February 1891. According to 2010 census, about 269, 601 people lives in the city.
- Barrow, Alaska: It's the largest city of the North Slope Borough in the US state of Alaska and is located of the Arctic circle. The coldest temperature ever recorded in this city is -49°C. As at 2010, the population in barrow is 4,683.
- Winnipeg, Canada: The city is named after the nearby lake Winnipeg. It is one of the coldest cities in North America. The lowest temperature ever recorded in Winnipeg was -47.8°C on 24th December 1879.
- Dras, India. Yeah you read that right, India. I know you might picture India to be a hot place but the country is very large and there some places with very low temperature like Dras. During winter it can get as low as -23°C.
So anytime you're complaining about how cold the weather is, just think about what you're going to do if you ever go to any of these places.
