The Robertson Wine Valley just outside of Cape Town, is a firm fav amongst vino aficionado's and contains over 100 wine estates!
A day on the Esona Estate is like stepping back in time, to a day when things were simpler and all you had to worry about, was the age of your grapes or the taste of your olives. . .
Focusing on certified single vineyards such as Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Colombar, the orchards receive full day sun and fresh mountain water delivered by the Breede river. The south winds from the coast, 150km away, help cool the vineyards during the hot summer sessions.
The Esona tasting room and lounge offer the most stunning views over the farm and allow for an afternoon getting buzzed with mates!
Husband and wife team, Caryl and Rowan found their 17-hectare piece of paradise in 2004 and sold their first bottle of craft wine in 2010. The whole farm is run by a small team of about 5 people and is a testimony to hand labored love and what someone with a love of grapes can do.
