Moved to Thailand... First impressions!

in #travel8 years ago

Sorry my phone is too much of a soap box to take awesome pictures, so we're gonna keep this as a simple text. No fancy formatting either. The only picture, this one, is taken a moment ago from my balcony. Definitely nothing fancy, because I'm temporarily staying in a very cheap place. I've been in a few towns now and I like what I'm seeing.

The weather

The weather is just stunning! It's about 30 degrees c warm which is something I rarely ever see, it's sunny, warm and really pleasant!

The friendly culture

Despite English not being very well spoken here it just amazes me how friendly and helpful the people are around here

The atmosphere

You have your local hard working people, the white tourist hustlers and a wonderful weather - it all gives out an amazing atmosphere

Conclusion

Promising start. Time to start working now, tho. I intend to create a few additional revenues to maintain my cheap lifestyle on the level that I could still afford beer.

Cheers!

Good luck on your move. I moved to Cambodia a year and half ago and am glad i did. One thing though, if you are gonna have a name like modernbukowski, you better know expectations are gonna be high for some decent writing. just saying. Good Luck in your new adventure....

Good note on the name, I'm fairly sure that I'm following C. Bukowski's path, but I'm missing the few decades of writing experience he had, but I'm working on it. Thanks for the good wishes!

well he always wrote. he worked at the post office for 25 years to be able to pay rent to have a place to write. so good luck on your new path, and don't try to copy him. You will fail. Write for you. Go for it. It's one thing to have heros/inspiration, but another entirely to try and write like them. Not trying to sound critical, but as a sometimes writer myself that studied literature, it is just sound advice.... be well.

Beer is definitely cheap AF there, cheaper than water. Which part is this? All the best!!

Near the Old City, trying to stay near the action, hehe.

Glad to see you got a place to sleep!
