The area of ​​the province is 232 thousand feddans, and is famous for  the production of cotton, which achieved the first place in production  for five consecutive years from 1996-2000 at the level of the republic,  wheat, maize, sorghum citrus, pomegranate, mango, grapes and bananas.
The province contributes to industrial activity in major industries  such as cement, fertilizer, oil refining, pharmaceuticals and cotton  spinning and spinning. Six industrial zones were established in the  governorate centers
Asyut International Airport was developed to be located 35 km from the city of Assiut on Assiut Road / New Valley. The construction of the new city of Assiut east of the Nile on an area  of ​​four thousand acres in the valley of Assiuti can accommodate 100  thousand people.
