in #travel7 years ago

thanks to the many caves, cavities and underground water sources that it shelters, Morocco has established itself as a privileged destination, at the level of Africa or even the world, adventurers and followers of voyages of exploration from the depths of Earth. Much of this type of tourist sets its sights on the province of Taza, made famous by the 125 underground cavities it houses, the most popular remains unquestionably the Cave of Friouato, a true wonder of nature to about 27 km at south of Taza. With its 702 steps and fabulous concretions, the cave of Friouato plunges visitors into the heart of the underground world in all its splendor. The temperature inside the cave is 13C °.

This chasm opens in the open by a crater of 20 m. up to 350 meters in diameter under the ground! This cave is characterized by its ease of access and its beautiful aquatic sculptures, stalagmites, stalactites, beams ... Due to the difficulties of access to this opening, it was built on the side of the mountain an oblique tunnel which allows to access to the chasm at mid-depth. This tunnel leads to a small natural balcony, suspended in the void. From this platform, the spectacle that is offered to the eyes of the visitor is striking. At the top, the light floods the opening of the crater.

Making accessible to all, young and old, a site of extreme wealth, both in terms of heritage and environment, is one of the main objectives of the educational team of the Friouato cave.

The Cave of Friouato is a wonderful educational tool suitable for all age levels. A visit presenting a great way to discover the underground world. One could compare this visit to a trip to the center of the earth, between nature and culture. The visitors, armed with torches and escorted by a guide, never tire of admiring the underground universe whose cave reveals them the precious treasures, notably the stalactites, a calcareous concretion formed by the erosion of the rocks by the work water, underground lakes and beautiful paintings of multicolored rocks.
