We have departed from the capital city of Sabah, Kota Kinabalu, at around 07.30. At the invitation of the Tourism Board of Sabah, we together with AirAsia airlines had the opportunity to visit Mount Kinabalu in mid-April 2015. The mountain has been protected by its status as a national park.

Journey to Mount Kinabalu with a distance of about 90 kilometers takes 2 hours. Sabah State Government apparently prepares infrastructure to support tourism very well. Along the way, the asphalt is smooth-without any traffic jams.

The guide, Bobby Weslee (42), enthusiastically explained our goal. Kinabalu is Malaysia's first national park. Inauguration of the park in 1964 followed the recognition of the world heritage site of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2000.

The cold air makes the appetite creep up. In Pekan Nabalu there are several shops. What most typical dish if not the typical Sabah coffee tenom. At the tavern, the barista mixes the coffee by moving the brewing over and over again to a different glass. Similar how to make coffee pull aceh. Less than 5 minutes, coffee is steamed with steam. Organic sabah tea with strong aroma and flavor can also be ordered. We were sipping warm drinks accompanied by several types of snacks.
