Hey Steemians :)
In this post I will write about trip to Mount Krn ( 2,244 m or 7,362 ft ) and Mount Mangart ( 2,679 m or 8,789 ft ).
Last August me and my friend decided to go on two day trip to Julian Alps.
First day we drove to valley Lepena in Soca Valley. Our destination was Mount Krn. About 8 AM we came to our starting point at 700 m or 2,296 ft.
For first two hours we were hiking through the forest and came to the Koča pri Krnskih jezerih mountain hut. After that we walked across the Duplje pasture and soon in front of us was beautiful Krn lake.
It lies at an altitude of 1,391 m or 4,563 ft. After lunch break at the lake we continue our way to Mount Krn.
This was the hardest part of the path because it was very hot that day.
We met new friends on our way to the top :)
View from the top on Krn lake and highest Slovenian peaks. In the middle you can see Triglav which is the highest mountain in Slovenia.
We came back to our car in late afternoon and drove 1 hour from Lepena to lake Lago del Predil where we set our little camp for that night.
Morning view from our tent :)
Next morning we drove to Mangart saddle. Mangart road takes you above 2000 altitude meters and it is Slovenian highest road. We parked our car on top of it. Our starting point was on 2,055 m or 6,742 ft. From Mangart saddle you can hike/climb on Mangart from Slovenian or Italian route. We decided to take Slovenian route which is a secured climbing route ( via ferrata ).
Road to Mangart saddle.
Part of the path where you have to put your walking poles in backpack and use helmet and via ferrata safety kit.
After an hour and a half we reached the top.
For our way down we take Italian route which is easier but have some passages secured with steel cables.
Hope you guys enjoyed this Trip report!
Have a nice day :)
You're on top of the world :) Beautiful pics, Krn Lake looks amazing.
Thank you. Yes it is, but unfortunately you can't swim in it :( haha
I imagine it would be pretty cold even if you could. :)
Great trip report my friend! I just love the mountain Krn! So much history and nature in this area, it just has everything that i love 🙌
Thank you my friend. You should take your drone to Julian Alps one day!

The landscape is very beautiful, it must be a little difficult to get to where they did it but it has its reward and it is that beautiful landscape where you can breathe fresh air
