Taj Mahal - one of the New 7 Wonders of the World

in #travel7 years ago

Everytime I talk to people about my trip in India they will always ask "did you go to Taj Mahal?"

After hearing from other travelers about how magnificent and amazing the monument is, we decided to add India on our asian trip.

It surely is on many people's bucket list to see and I am lucky enough to have seen it and share it with you guys!

India is a country rich in culture and tradition. It is home to great historical architectural wonders like Taj Mahal.

India's most popular tourist attraction that attracts 8 million visitors a year!

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Taj Mahal is the jewel of Muslim art in India recently listed as one of the new 7 wonders of the world.

Located on the south bank of the Yamuna river in the Indian city of Agra, about 200 kilometers away from the capital Delhi, it was commissioned by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in 1632 to house the tomb of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

It took 22,000 people, 1000 elephants and 22 years to build. It is regarded by many as the best example of Mughal architecture and a symbol of India's rich history.

Faszinierende Bilder!

Another great one! THank you for sharing it @mywanderlust

India and the Taj Mahal is definitely on my list of places to go. Seeing your nice pictures and reading more about it makes me want to go right now. Time and money are the big hurdles to overcome for all who want to travel. Time I have created by deciding to start traveling full time with my family. Money does still restrict us a lot as to where and how we travel. I know that India is not very expencive ones you get there so maybe it can happen before to long.
Thanks for a nice post!

Hi @fanstaf, thank you for your nice comment and I do agree with you. Though you don't need a lot of money in order to travel, it depends on how you travel actually. At first I'm kinda hesitating if I should go travel or focus more on my career. It's not an easy decision and people especially family members think I'm just wasting money, not planning my future, etc. For me as long as Im happy on what I'm doing, I don't care lol

Thanks for your feedback

OMG i can't wait to see this in real life :)

I visited the Taj Mahal in the early 1990s - back in the days before digital cameras. I couldn't stop taking photos! Everytime I looked away, and looked back, I would be awestruck, and click click click!

I went through 3 rolls of film :-)

Good ol' times! That's funny! Yeah man just take lots of photos
Were there a lot of tourists back then?

I thought so at the time - probably not compared to today though :-)

I have a few friends in Mumbai. I can't wait to go. What a splendid piece of architecture.
