Old Russian fortress of Ivan the Terrible

in #travel7 years ago

This ancient Russian fortress was not only the center of oprichnina, but actually the capital of the state.
The largest secret treaties take part in its palaces.
And here the traces of the most famous library of Ivan the Terrible - Liberia - are lost ...

This is Aleksandrovskaya Sloboda.
From the 17th century on its territory the women's monastery was angry, and right after the revolution - a museum.
These days they are quite neighbors.

Before the entrance is a fairly wide parking lot, so parking should not be a problem.
I did not pay for entrance to the territory, only visiting exhibitions is paid.
Today we will not go there - just stroll through the territory.

Walls Sloboda of the 16th century.
They remember the hands of the masters who built the Moscow Kremlin.

Inside is very clean and there are informative tablets.
Conveniently.

One of the legends of the founding of Alexandrov.
By the way, Sloboda originated even under the father of Grozny - Vasily III in the 16th century.

If you do not go inside the museum, where you definitely hang for a long time, you can walk around the whole territory of Sloboda leisurely for 30 minutes.

The weather on this day did not pay, which, however, did not stop to remain under the impression of the number and type of buildings inside the fortress.
The huge pillar-bell tower was the Crucifixion church.
Lookout there, I feel ...

The operating temple of the monastery is the Trinity Cathedral.
Nearby there are tents with local expensive chocolates and Easter cakes.

The cathedral impressed me about interesting details.
But the drains to its base - no.

Inside - just a fairy tale.
A lot of copper, frescoes, gates, an ancient iconostasis to the ceiling, and even in the shadows ...
You feel like you were about 400 years ago.
Take pictures inside - well, you know ...

Icon of Radonezh outside.

Behind the gathering there is an alley with a lot of information materials.

Immediately - a cell building with rooms (cells) for the sisters of the monastery.
By the way, the monastery after the revolution was closed and was revived only in 1991.

The Intercession Church is the first tent old Russian temple.
Inside, they say, incredible frescos are available.
But in the modest house on the right there lives the abbess of the monastery.

One can imagine how Ivan the Terrible himself descended on these steps.

Do you want news? Sit down.
Modern science says that Ivan's son Ivan was ... poisoned.
And the artist Repin, whose picture we all remember, just having seen enough of the bullfighting in Europe, decided to popiaritsya on the blood ...

But the true secrets of Grozny can be told here - in the cellars of the Assumption Church.

Of course, I'll come here again.
Only in summer, in clear weather. Walk through all the exposures slowly, then I'll show you.

And better - come yourself!
As they say, it's better to see once ...

Very good and thrilling story. I know only that Ivan the Terrible was 3 years old when he began to prince or something.
