I just read this great post from @adsactly written by @hopehuggs - you can read it here----> https://steemit.com/travel/@adsactly/adsactly-personal-confessions-from-the-airport

It stirred up some fond memories of a couple of flights I have taken over the years, still get a smile on my face now :) You can read about them below. Enjoy...

I was catching a flight from Birmingham to Dublin in 2002, I walked down onto the tarmac to board my flight - first impressions of the plane - SHIT this should be in the knackers yard!!! Either that or in a Flintstones Movie!!! I wasn't the only one to comment, there were a few choice words coming from the other passengers, especially from the bunch of young lads behind me, comments like - We're gonna die - I think I'll call mum and dad to say goodbye - Shall we turn back now - We should have had a few more beers - All we need now is a woman driver!!! lol, Hilarious!

We boarded the flight, buckled in, I'd never been on a propeller plane before, smaller than I'm used to, hey ho it was only an hour long flight. The next thing - the captains voice came over the tannoy - it was an Irish woman, well for a few seconds you could have heard a pin drop, then HYSTERIA!!!

The lads started with the banter again, called the stewardess over, asking her if the captain had a driving license, could they see her credentials, could they trade places and fly the plane for her, then I heard one of them mumble - I hope she's not on her monthly - sexist I know but funny at the time.

The plane took off, the banter continued all the way, no sooner we were up, we were coming down, the plane landed and the cheers went up along with sighs of relief. Fair play to the captain, she came out of the cockpit and had a crack with the lads, all good humour and very very funny!!!

About 5 years ago, I took a flight from Sofia to Luton, with my then, 14 year old daughter. This is definitely an "Out of the mouth's of babes" story which I can look back at now and laugh, at the time it wasn't that funny, especially to the other passengers on that plane!

It was a pretty normal flight until we were flying over Italy, the fasten belt sign flashed up, we'd hit turbulence. I assured my daughter that it would clear soon but it just got worse. The captain announced that we had hit stormy weather and to keep our belts fastened. The turbulence didn't let up, the plane was bouncing up and down like a yo-yo. I could feel my daughter's nails digging into my leg, the passenger the other side of me was clutching a crucifix and just kept crossing herself over and over again - that didn't help at all - even the stewardess who was sitting opposite us (we were at the front) looked green at the gills! I could hear distant vomiting and the odd passenger sobbing, the turbulence did not let up, pretty soon the captain announced that we were beginning our descent.

We had been strapped in for almost 2 hours, the captain announced we were preparing to land, I stretched over to have a look out of the window, all I could see were clouds - then BANG - we hit the runway HARD and BOUNCED - the woman next to me grabbed her crucifix again, the stewardess put her hand over her mouth as though to vomit, then my daughter screams at the top of her voice - OH MY GOD WE'RE GONNA FUCKIN DIE!!! I immediately put my hand over her mouth to stop her causing any more panic - NOT what the other passengers needed to hear, there were gasps and crying already, the pilot came around for a 2nd attempt at landing, thankfully he nailed it that time. There were cheers for the pilot, kudos to him and his team, I have been on many flights, but that was by far, the worse. As for my daughter, she was only 14, it took her a while until she was ready to fly again and I bet there were many pairs of pants that needed changing after that flight!!! :)

Great story, what an experience, and generally a well constructed content. UPVOTEd and RESTEEMed
