A day with the most miraculous place in Cebu ❤️

When at Cebu ❤️

In this blog I am going to talk about our trip to Simala in Cebu City, Philippines.

Birhen Sa Simala or The Monastery Of The Holy Eucharist that is located in Lindogon Simala, Sibonga, Cebu is one of the places I really want to go because my mother always told me that "chada gyud kay na dira ate do , gusto kay ko maka anha dina"(she said that it is really nice there and that she really wants to go there). She also told me that soon we will be going there all together with the whole family.

Castle-like Structure of the Monastery

By Entering the church you can already see the Castle-like structure of the church and it is really huge. When we arrived at Simala we didnt know that wearing informal attires cannot go inside the church and that time we were only wearing shorts because before going to Simala we came from Oslob and did the whale shark watching. Unfortunately, I didnt bring any skirt or pants that time because I honestly didnt know but luckily, outside the church there are palda or skirts for rent for 30pesos.

One thing that really amazed me and gave me goosebumps was when we entered the part of the church where you have to leave your slippers outside and from the entrance you will see all the letters from anyone that is giving thanks to mama mary, giving thanks because he/she passed the board exams, giving thanks because he/she was healed and other things. Most of the letters I read was about them passing the Medicine Board exams and offered a stethoscope, some passed Nursing Board exam and offered their uniforms and some passed the Nautical Board exams and offered a toy ship.

As you can see in the picture there are wheel chairs and other things and those are the things they offered to Mama Mary.

This part of the Monastery is called the Mother Mary’s prayer room. I have other pictures inside the prayer room but most of it are not clear because I was so busy looking at my surroundings hehe. Inside the Prayer Room camera flashes should be turned off while taking pictures for other people not to be disturbed.

How to get there

We got to Simala from oslob and it took us an hour to get there riding a van we rented but for those who are from the City proper I searched how to get there and found these tips. If your from the City Proper you can go to the bus station and ride a Ceres Bus going to Sibonga. You do not need to worry if you fall asleep and pass through the church or what because the trip will take 2 hours or more. The Driver will inform the passengers if you arrived at the bus stop to Simala Church by the time you arrive you will then take a motorcycle to bring you in front of the Church.
