Introducing one of the hidden paradises of Negros Occidental which is Tawhai Floating Bar, they claimed to be the biggest floating Bar in Asia. They are best enjoyed by many people because of the beach view while the rest can go partying.
What is Tawhai?
The word Tawhai is a local dialect of the townspeople in Negros which means to relax or unwind. The name and the breathtakingly beautiful scenery certainly lived up to expectations!
How to get there?
My friends and I were staying at Talisay City in Negros Occidental. From Talisay City, we went to Bacolod City North Bus Terminal going to Cadiz City.
The bus fare cost 95 pesos if it's air-conditioned and non-airconditioned for 55 pesos.
From Brgy. Burgos stopover terminal, we look for a tricycle. We had a tricycle ride going to the Port at Brgy. Cadiz Viejo.
The tricycle ride going to the port costs 40 pesos per person and 120 pesos if you prefer taking a motorcycle which is good for 2 persons.
Upon arriving at the port you have to stop over and pay for the pump boat that will take you to the Lakawon Island. You have to pay a round trip of 250 pesos per person. I can really say, this trip has a lot of stops before you can finally arrive at your destination and you gotta prepare your cash as well!
Finally!
As much as I wanna show you around how captivating Lakawon Island is, we'll just have to stop there. I'll be posting about this beach on my next travel post. xD
We really want to stay here for awhile in this paradise beach, but we have to go to the floating bar first since it was our first plan in visiting Negros.
Take note, there's an entrance before going to the floating bar which 250 pesos, the exciting part is, they have a free complimentary drink of your choice; soda, beer, water, or juice.
Heading to the Floating Bar ...
Getting closer....
Things to do in the Floating Bar
After the long and exhausting trips, I can ultimately enjoy my much-needed rest. As you can see in the picture the people around me are lying comfortably on their beds and others were on their colorful bean bags.
To entirely enjoy the vibe, there's a minibar right at the middle of the boat ready to serve you with your cold drinks plus the sound of the chill out music will complete your weekend getaway mood.
You can enjoy their various snack meals and along with their cold drinks. Before coming to the place, I advise you to have your fill first because their menu is quite pricey and they don't have rice..oh I mean for those rice lovers out there! xD Additionally, if you're planning to buy food or drinks outside you will need to pay their corkage fee of 50 pesos.
There were fewer people on the upper deck due to the fiery heat of the sun. It was really hot there and you don't wanna risk yourself getting roasted. Every after one glam shot, we immediately hide under the sheds.
Honestly, exploring this place can be done on a day trip and you can still explore other wonderful places in Negros. But if you prefer to relax until the sun sets, then, this is definitely the place for you! If you can't swim like me, better to stay on the boat and enjoy the place. haha!
If you're traveling from Cebu going to Bacolod via RoRo, the trip usually takes roughly 8 hours. It will take an hour if by plane. As for me, I took the long way route going to this place. It took me 13 hours from Cebu to Bacolod. That was the longest trip I ever had!
All I could say is, that, this trip was simply amazing! Everyone deserves a break may it be from work, toxic people, heartaches or the bustling city life.
P.S: Total estimated budget for the trip was about 880 pesos, excluding the food.
That's all for now.
