in #travel10 months ago
Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you are all right. Not long ago, I took a Walking Tour on the Kwitang Route. Of course, this route discusses several historical places in Jakarta starting from Dutch colonialism. Many places are told, here is a short story.

Tani Monument and Aryaduta Hotel

This Tani Monument depicts a child hero who asked for blessings to fight the invaders. In Jakarta, several monuments are characteristic of the capital city. The construction of this monument was inspired by Soekarno from several countries. This Tani Monument was created in 1963 and depicts an agricultural country. In 1965 it would be destroyed because it had ties to communism.

Not far from this monument, there is the Aryaduta Hotel. Previously, this hotel was a meeting place for 10 young people who were preparing for independence. Over time, this place became a luxury hotel in Central Jakarta called Aryaduta.

Anlikan Church, Nyai Dasimah River and Kwitang Village

In Jakarta, there is a church called the Anlika Church which currently we never know the shape of the church. The shape of the building is covered, so that everyone never notices that there is a church there. He said the church had existed since 1828 and was not open to the public. Anglican. The person who became a missionary in Batavia was Walter Hendri. Not far from the church is the exile of a famous figure in Bavaria, whose stories have become many dramas, namely Nyai Dasimah.

There are many stories about Nyai Dasimah, but she remains a Nyai role model in the Batavian era. Not far from there, there is the Kwitang village which is named after the Chinese people. Not many stories have been written about the Kwitang village. There are many famous people in the Kwitang area. And there are also martial arts in the Kwitang area.

Kwitang Indonesian Christian Church

I once told about this church. This church has become a cultural heritage site. In terms of building, the tiles in this church still come from the original building. This church has existed since 1876. During this time, this church has functioned to maintain diversity. In the past, in Kwitang there was a lot of intermarriage between ethnic groups, Sundanese Javanese, Chinese, and others. There are also Malay, Indian, Gujarat, Arabic and others.

Baltic ice cream shop

On this route, there is a legendary ice cream shop, namely the Baltic Ice Cream Shop. I also tried this ice cream. This place is not far from Atrium Senen and Simpang Lima Senen. This ice cream has been around since 1939, located among the shophouses. This ice cream place continues to innovate, but this shop does not open new branches elsewhere. This means that this place is the only one that sells Baltic ice cream. This year, this shop is managed by the second generation. I told you about it in my post. You just have to check.

Maison Weiner Bakery

Actually, at first glance, this shop looks like an ordinary bakery. However, it turns out that this bakery sells cakes from the Netherlands. Usually, cake shops like this promise cakes that are sweet, soft, and served in a classic European style. This bakery is located on Jalan Kramat Number 2, Kwitang, Central Jakarta. I've also told you about this, you can check it out. What's my story, are you interested? see you in the next story.
