Finally ready to post pictures from Namibia; which is now at the top of my list as one of the coolest places I've ever been ❤️ Honestly, a huge portion of it was spent sitting in the car, but driving through the (second) least densely populated country in the world where we saw more wild animals than people, watching the vast and surreal landscapes change and the stars come out each night was such a unique experience. Something about this particularly difficult-to-access spot in the desert had been calling me for years, so finally being there was a huge bucket-list check. So grateful I had the opportunity and time off to get there 🙏🏻
PSA: if you're going to Namibia, do NOT rent a car like this! Get a 4x4. Luckily we met a kind local who, after seeing what we were driving, advised us that if we followed Google Maps our little "Carolai" wouldn't make it. With this route we still had to floor it at least twice to make it through some sand pits and even had to get out of the car to smooth out the sand road with our feet, but eventually we got to where we were going. My new goal is to learn how to drive a manual so I can rent the appropriate car no matter where I am! 🤦🏼♀️Americans usually only know how to drive automatic... anyone else ever been in this predicament??
The desert is absolutely magical. The sand is bright orange and the sky is neon blue. The sunrise over the sand dunes and the trees that were once at the bottom of a lake create a very surreal vibe.
And what can I say about an abandoned car lot? Actually these were found at a gas station, about 3 hours from the nearest town in any direction.
nice PSA @nomadgirl, Beautiful pictures too.. so what are you doin there in Namibia? just travelling and why Namibia? anyway.. I have featured you in my entry post for The pay it forward curation contest, hope that people will recognise your creativity and travle story.. please check on my link if you want to know more Paying it Forward Curation Contest - Week 17 : Looking Back To Move Forward
thanks for sharing this with us and Keep Steem-it On!
I just saw the post-- looks awesome! Thanks again! Once I have a better reputation I'll certainly be paying it forward in the same way-- love this idea :)
As @dipoabasch mentioned there is no need to wait until your rep is higher. The contest is actually a great place for newer members to meet others and help each other grow. Hope to see you join us.
well... if you have time, don't wait till you reach better reputation, you'll reach better reputation quickly if you joined and engage with all the participants too.. they're just gorgeous. I, myself only at Rep. 28 when I first submit my entry, well.. not really good right now.. but I'm growing in the contest.
I second the recommendation from @dipoabach. By spotting talent and featuring them in @pifc (pay it forward contest), we all have grown and made great friends. I have too many great candidates and regretfully cannot feature @traveleranna in my entry.
I third the motion from @dipoabasch. 😊 Anyone at any rep level can do the curation and feature others. So we hope to see you joining in very soon.
Awesome piece. Namibia has never been on the top of my list, but you've done a great job featuring it.
In fact, I would love to curate this through the @asapers, so if you are happy for me to do so, just follow us, as all our posts are curated from our followers and we share 10% of the profits from the post with the authors we curate. Hope to see you soon as the next issue will be out soon.
That's so kind of you, thank you! I am very new on here so am looking to build up my reputation and that would be great help :)

If you would join us on Discord, then we can get you in there - but even following @asapers, upvoting/resteeming the latest ASAP magazine will get you enough to be featured. :-)
Hey there @nomadgirl, as viking said we curate from our followers and we also share profits with them so if you would like the chance to be curated in the future all you need to do is give us a follow. Discord can come later :D Hope to see you soon.
Hi I found you through the pay it forward feature by @dipoabasch
Love those old cars. Everything is so beautiful there. wishing you safe travels
Thank you! Following you now as well :)
Thank you for sharing. Those are wonderful pictures. I am totally getting the travel bug.
Wow, this looks seriously cool! Looking forward to seeing more of your posts!
Thanks Anna! Let's stay connected on here and help eachother :)
the pay it forward and #ccc are good places to consider "hanging out" or "stay connected" and grow together.
Surely a sight to see. A unique experience for sure. defiantly 4x4 territory.
That's one off your bucket list. Take care and be safe on your adventure's in life.
Thanks so much! More photos to come :)
Thank you for this beautiful post, @nomadgirl. 😄
It sounds like you had a wonderful adventure!
Well, I've learned to drive with Manual gears... but after driving an Automatic, I find it completely stupid that Manual gears still exist in the 21st Century. That's so dark ages... Jeez. Why not driving an Horse and Chariot instead?
PS: I've come to your post after reading Paying it Forward Curation Contest - Week 17 : Looking Back To Move Forward by @dipoabasch
Hi @nomadgirl, as you know @dipoabasch featured you in this week's #PayItForward contest @pifc.
I highly recommened learning manual transmission. In fact, I'll own one until I can't. They're so much fun to drive. Beautiful shots!!. Hope to see more.
