Our vacation in Antalya finished, and now we are back in Istanbul for a while. As you know, Istanbul is a city with so much to see and explore that we could spend days travelling around here. Although it's not as appealing for me since I already live in Istanbul, Lera loves Istanbul, so we still have a few places we plan to visit and share with you over time. Today, we are in Balat.
Balat is one of the most beautiful district in this city with its unique beauty. With its historic houses, narrow streets, and vibrant colors, Balat is a district that will captivate you. In this travel post, we will get to know Balat more closely and explore the beauty of this colorful district together.
After Antalya, the heat in Istanbul didn't effect us in bad way that much, but it was still too hot here. After parked our car, we started our walking from Balat's pedestrian street, which is closed to traffic. There are various cafes and shops with unique concepts along this street, all of which have a delightful exterior appearance. With graffiti on the walls, colorful doors, and charming decorations, this street has a literally captivating ambiance.
We came to a women's clothes store named Tiffany & Tomato, and Lera wanted to take a look inside. For the first time in my life, I spent time inside a store without getting bored or complaining because shop had air conditioner. After spending half hour here, Lera bought something, and then we continued to our walking. Apparently, the heat wasn't enough for Lera, as she handed me a big bag, and now we were three in Balat: me, Lera, and the bag containing her newly bought clothes...
Fortunately, Balat is such a charming district that I didn't mind the situation much. We then headed towards the famous "Colorful Stairs." When we arrived, it didn't quite look like what we had seen in pictures on Google, but it was still a nice and worth to see this place. There were other people who came to see it like us, and everyone was taking photos. We didn't want to miss the trend, so we asked someone to take a photo of us. Since we didn't feel that climbing the stairs very meaningful, we continued our Balat journey to a place known as the "Colorful Houses."
Balat's streets can sometimes be grey, and other times, they are full of colors. Even Balat's grey side was charming to us, as you can see in the photos. It has a different aura, and I believe that everyone who comes to Istanbul should explore these streets. You may also recognize Balat from film and TV series scenes, as it is a popular location for such things.
When we arrived to the "Colorful Houses," we saw buildings in different colors, and the place was a bit crowded as everyone wanted to take pictures in front of these houses. Somehow, we managed to take a few photos here as well. It's definitely a place worth visiting.
Balat is famous not only for its visual beauty but also for its superb culinary culture that brings together flavors from different cultures. You can experience the exquisite tastes of Ottoman and Turkish cuisine in the traditional cafes scattered around the district.
Balat is located along the shores of the Halic, offering a magnificent view. As you wander through the streets, many of which are uphill, you can enjoy the unique view of the Halic when you reach a higher point.
After exploring the streets, we returned to the bustling walking street with various shops and stopped by some second- and shops. Second hand culture is not very common in Turkey, but Lera says it is pretty popular in Ukraine, and she loves to check second hand stores. Here, you can find rare items and clothes that you won't see anyone else wearing, at much lower prices than in brand stores. The entrance of the second hand shop we visited had interesting items on enterence, and even I found the inside of this shop interesting. Even if you don't intend to buy anything, you are likely to find something to purchase after spending time on this shop.
After checking out the second hand stores, we realized that we were tired and decided to sit at a cafe for a cold drink. While looking for a cafe, we stumbled upon the "Aşk Gazozcusu," a place that sells various colorful soda drinks, perfectly in line with the atmosphere of Balat. The shop's design featured pictures of characters from old Turkish movies, creating a fantastic ambiance. We enjoyed cold sodas here, rested a bit, and then completed our tour of Balat.
It was a very enjoyable day for us, and I really wanted Lera to see the beauty of Balat, so it turned out to be a wonderful day. We will be staying in Istanbul for about a month, and during this time, we will present you with travel posts about other noteworthy places in Istanbul. Балат - один з найгарніших районів в місті з унікальною красою. Зі своїми історичними будинками, вузькими вуличками та яскравими кольорами, Балат - це район, що зачаровує. У цьому дописі ми познайомимося з Балатом і разом дослідимо цей колоритний район.
Після Анталії спека в Стамбулі нас не налякала, але все ж було досить спекотно. Після того, як припаркували наш автомобіль, ми розпочали прогулянку по пішохідній вулиці Балату. Тут знаходяться різні кафе та магазини з унікальними концепціями, всі з яких мають чарівний зовнішній вигляд. З графіті на стінах, яскравими дверима та чарівними декорами, ця вулиця має дійсно захоплюючу атмосферу.
Ми зайшли до магазину жіночого одягу під назвою Tiffany & Tomato, і Лєра просто не змогла встояти. Вперше в житті я провів час у магазині, не нудьгуючи і не скаржачись, оскільки тут був кондиціонер. Після півгодини проведеного тут, Лєра купила дещо, і потім ми продовжили свою прогулянку. Здається, що спека Лєрі не сподобалась, так як вона подарувала мені велику сумку, і тепер нас в Балаті було троє: я, Лера та сумка з її новими речами...
На щастя, Балат - це такий чарівний район, що я не занадто переймався ситуацією. Потім ми вирушили до відомих "Кольорових сходів". Коли ми підійшли блище, це не виглядало так, як ми бачили на зображеннях в Google, але це все одно було гарним місцем і варто було подивитися. Тут були інші люди, які так само, як і ми, прийшли побачити це місце і сфотографуватися. Ми не хотіли відстати від цього тренду, тому попросили перехожих сфотографувати нас. Оскільки нам не здалося, що підйом по сходах має особливий сенс, ми продовжили нашу подорож по Балату до місця, яке відоме як "Кольорові будинки".
Вулиці Балату можуть бути і сірими, а іноді - сповненими різноманітних кольорів. Навіть сіра сторона Балату була зачаровуючою, як ви можете побачити на фото. Тут панує особлива аура, і я вважаю, що кожен, хто приїжджає в Стамбул, повинен дослідити ці вулички. Ви, можливо, також впізнаєте Балат з сцен фільмів і телесеріалів, оскільки це популярне місце для зйомок.
Коли ми дісталися до "Кольорових будинків", ми побачили будівлі різних кольорів, і тут було досить багато людей, кожен з яких хотів зробити фото перед цими будинками. І якимось чином нам вдалося також зробити кілька фотографій. Ми дійсно рекомендуємо цей район для відвідування!
Балат славиться не тільки своєю візуальною красою, але й чудовою кулінарною культурою, яка об'єднує різні смаки. Ви можете скуштувати вишукані османську та турецьку кухні в традиційних кафе по всьому району.
Балат розташований вздовж берегів Галича і має чудовий вид. Гуляючи вулицями, багато з яких йдуть вгору, ви можете насолоджуватися унікальним краєвидом Галича, коли дістанетеся до вищої точки.
По завершенні прогулянки по вулицях, ми повернулися на оживлену пішохідну вулицю з різними магазинами і зайшли в деякі магазини з них. Культура секонд-хендів не є поширеною в Туреччині, але Лєра говорить, що вона досить популярна в Україні, і вона любить такі магазини. Тут ви можете знайти рідкісні речі та одяг, який ви не побачите ні на кому іншому, часто за нижчими цінами, ніж у магазинах відомих брендів. Увійшовши в один з таких магазинів, ми відразу ж знайшли цікаві речі, і мені тут навіть сподобалося. Навіть якщо у вас немає наміру щось купувати, ви все одно ймовірно знайдете тут щось для себе.
Після перегляду магазинів ми зрозуміли, що втомилися, і вирішили прохолодитися в кафе. Шукаючи кафе, ми натрапили на "Aşk Gazozcusu", місце, де продають різноманітні кольорові газовані напої, які ідеально вписуються в атмосферу Балату. Дизайн кафе прикрашений фотографіями персонажів зі старих турецьких фільмів, що створювали фантастичну атмосферу. Ми насолодилися холодними газованими напоями, трохи відпочили, і потім завершили нашу подорож по Балату.
Це був дуже приємний день для нас, і я справді хотів, щоб Лєра побачила красу Балата, тому цей день був дивовижним. Ми збираємося залишитися в Стамбулі приблизно на місяць, і протягом цього часу ми презентуватимемо вам тревел-сторіс про інші цікаві місця в Стамбулі.
