Exploring Venice - A Walk Around Doge's Palace

I don't think Venice is really about the major tourist spots or places in which you have to pay to get in. I personally think you can stay here in Venice and just wander the alleys during the day and night, taking in the different scenery and not spending too much money. It's mainly about the atmosphere. Obviously you have to pay for food and accommodation, so that will be very pricey if you stay and eat in the city.

I wasn't too concerned about visiting many places as I just wanted to photograph the landscape and water. When I was in St Mark's Square I thought it would make sense to pop in to Doge's Palace later in the evening and take a few photos of this palace built in the Venetian Gothic style as I had seen it once on TV before. I suppose this is one of the main landmarks, a building connected to the St Mark's Basilica that was created by the brothers Giovanni and Bartolomeo Bon in the mid-1400s.

I think you can capture Doge's palace better from the water at the back of the property, but it's not easy to capture so I stuck to taking pictures of details inside and outside. It was a nice experience to walk around and admire all the fantastic paintings both on the walls and the ceilings. Amazing how this kind of thing was a fashion back in the day. This is not really my personal taste in architecture, as I prefer more modern styles, but you still have to appreciate the construction methods and how they were able to build such properties back in the 14th or 15th century. Here are some photos, I hope you enjoy them.
