#6 Everyone in the world knows, if you arrived in Delhi, use prepaid taxi. It is your guarantee; you will reach the place you need. No tricks, no danger. Well, going by the black cab, we were relaxed, no doubts, soon we will reach the chosen hotel. All the way my friend had been chatting to a driver in Hindi, as much as he could. Because sometimes taxi driver asked him to repeat sayings…
20-25 minutes later we stopped in front of a small hotel. Actually, still we were going by airport highway. The traffic was rather busy, it means we were approximately 15 km from airport.
-- Is it the place you ve chosen?
-- No, but my friend told me, it’s really good. Let’s have a look.
-- Who’s your friend?
-- The taxi driver!
Is he idiot? Blogs are full of stories: never ever stop or leave a prepaid taxi, if you didn’t reach your place. Even don’t talk to a taxi driver about possibility to stop or have a look at “one more better place”.
Could I tell to the “like God handsome man”, he is wrong? Ok, let’s not destroy this friendship.
-- Come on, take your bag, let’s decide. My friend told me, if we don’t like, we can go further.
-- Ok, check the driver in the lobby, I ll go upstairs to rooms.
But “the friend” was more quickly: just few sights to a receptionist were enough for him to explain the situation. 5 seconds later he disappeared. Great! It was dark outside, busy, noisy airport highway, no shops, cafes, nothing except rows of similar hotels: with brightly illuminated, clean and pretty nice lobbies and ugly, dirty rooms. Besides, walls of building were so poor. Highway noise didn’t let fall asleep. And the price was fantastic. One night cost almost same as next 6 nights in different guesthouses... (to be continued)
