Sauropods - Herbivores with long necks and tails, walking by 4 legs. They were the biggest animal in the history.

On the way back to Bangkok from my north of Thailand trip. I stopped at Chiang Maun Dinosaur Forest Park, located in Pha Yao province, Thailand.

The fossil of Chiang Muan Dinosaur was discovered in 2002 and categorised as a sauropod, herbivorous dinosaur which had long neck and tail, walking by 4 legs.

Now they have not yet been able to identify it but from rough study by the Department of Mineral Resources, it has been found that the fossil is different from those of other sauropods discovered in Thailand. It has been assumed to be newly found type of dinosaur since this area is a newly discovered area for dinosaur fossils.

In 2002, the team had excavated the fossil in this site with academic practice by excavating top soil for the area of 5x7 meters in size and 2 meters in depth. There, about 20 pieces of fossilised dinosaur bones were found laying in the north-south direction.

The bones excavated came from several parts as cervical vertebrae, caudal vertebrae, dorsal vertebra, neural spine, ilium and ribs. The result of the test showed that the fossils found belong to a sauropod, huge herbivorous dinosaur.

And this was the first discovery of dinosaur in the north of Thailand.
