To and around Ha Giang

in #travel7 years ago

Yesterday on the 9th of October I started my travel to Ha Giang. I stopped many times to admire the beauty of nature that presented itself in front of me. For minutes at a time I was staring at beautiful waterfalls that were washing my stress away as I let them drown away my worries and share with me the happiness and clearness nature has to offer. Stopping at one of these waterfalls I made an important decision: I want to become an English teacher in south east Asia. At one moment it became so clear to me that this was how I want to live for the next few years.
After 3 hours I reached a small town where I went to eat something. I ordered spring rolls with rice and asked if I could have the rest of other 3 dishes people left behind. RIght in this moment I found to see the positive in people wasting food: I get to have many different dishes without paying for them. I can enjoy 3 dishes for the price of one and feel good that I saved food from being thrown away
As I continued traveling on the mountainside and stopping quite often to enjoy the view at one point a deep emotional sadness overcame me. The reason for it is to personal to write here, but a lot of tears were running down my face and I had to stop on the road to recover. I haven't had a moment like this in a few months, but I felt it coming since a few weeks ago. I don't feel comfortable letting it out around random people, but I feel very good afterwards. I work hard with positive self talk afterwards to fill the gap with good emotions that the tears have left.
The last 25km on that day I went faster down the mountain keeping behind a group of Motorbikers in hope of finding a hotel before it was dark. I did. 150.000 Dong(5€) and a giant spider in the bathroom included.

This was on a bridge. I had a really hard time going to the half of it. I wasn't sure if the bridge would hold me or not so I took every step with care and it took me a few minutes to get back again. On the way up the hill I saw a woman who was about to cross it. She walked on it having no care at all.

The next day. I left a little later then usually around 8:30. The way to Ha Giang was very comfortable. After going up and down different mountains for the last 3 days it was nice to just go straight again and make more then 20km an hour. Ha Giang City is not very impressive, but the surrounding is quite nice.

It was raining a lot today and the weather changes from rain to sunshine very quickly. I decided to take it easy and stayed at the hostel for the rest of the day after 2pm. Hope it stays dry the next few days.

Safe travel
