What you need to know if you want to visit Paris, France (Experience of my trip)

in #travel7 years ago

Paris has a je ne sais quoi that makes most people dream of visiting it at least once in their lives. Two years ago I toured its streets and today I want to share my experience with you.

There are two airports that serve this city, Charles de Gaulle airport and Orly airport. However, if I had the opportunity to choose, I would travel to Orly; This is relatively closer to the city, it is smaller and more comfortable, and a taxi is much cheaper compared to CDG (approximately EUR 30, instead of EUR 55).

As for the lodging, I stayed in a small hotel in Issy-les-Moulineaux; It was economical since it was very far from the city, however, a few meters away it had the Corintin Celton metro station so it was no big problem to get to the Center.

How much does a hotel in Paris cost?

Accommodation in Paris is expensive, in my case I paid 65 EUR per night, in a single quadruple room whose location conditions I mentioned above. However, an average night in Paris has an approximate value of 80 EUR that will depend on the quality, service and location that the hotel establishment offers you.

How much does it cost to eat in Paris?

Maybe I'm not the right person to talk about this topic, since I was going to plan my savings and I would solve my breakfasts eating crêpes (3 euros in the city center) and my lunches eating at Mc Donald's (Minimum 5 EUR); so I did not spend too much money on food; while, if you are looking to know the gastronomic variety that France offers, your budget should be high.

What is the approximate price to move in Paris?

The price of the subway ticket is € 1.90, and this means of transport is quite complete, so you do not necessarily have to travel by taxi except for the round trip to and from the airport.

Which places are -must visit- in Paris?

Torre Eiffel

On a short trip to Paris, it is essential to visit the Eiffel Tower. Without a doubt, it is one of the most recognizable and popular monuments of the entire planet and a must when traveling to Paris. My recommendation is to go up the stairs to appreciate the views from all the heights and angles of the French capital. The ticket costs 7 EUR, while the lift will cost you 11 EUR. My recommendation is to go up at the end of the afternoon, so you can appreciate the view with sunlight and know why it is called the city of lights.

Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart (Sacré Coeur), is one of the most important sacred sites in Paris. It is located at the top of Montmartre, a hill 130 meters high from where you can enjoy magnificent views of Paris.

Notre Dame Cathedral

No tourist can leave the French capital without knowing the beautiful Cathedral of Notre Dame, a Catholic cult and episcopal seat of the city. It is of Gothic style and it is located in the Island of the Cité, in full River Seine.

Louvre Museum

The Louvre is huge and art lovers could spend several days touring it. To get a general idea and see the most outstanding works, it is necessary to devote at least one full morning to tour the museum.

Although the Louvre Museum is very important worldwide, it may be that for people who are not too interested in art it becomes too boring due to its enormous dimensions, which are added to the heat and crowds.

Arch of Triumph

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most famous symbols of Paris and represents the victories of the French army under the orders of Napoleon, who ordered its construction. It was very special for me since there is a hero of Venezuelan independence, Francisco de Miranda.

Disneyland Paris

Disneyland is the park that attracts the most visitors because it is ideal for all ages. The cost of admission is € 69 for access to two amusement parks. Try to arrive early so you can fully enjoy this ride.

Tips to take into account if you travel to Paris

-I do not speak French, so I thought I could communicate easily in English; and I found the unpleasant surprise that very few Parisians were able to understand this language, and strange as it may seem, it was Spanish that made us and some French understand each other.

-Paris is a costly city, prices in shops and supermarkets double those in Spain, so you should have a large budget when traveling to this city.

-Although the subway offers to buy the child rate paying only half, be honest; You could meet with policemen checking the tickets and take a bad time and a fine.

-Wait the show of lights in the Eiffel Tower, it takes place at 10pm every night.

-Get the souvenirs in the Eiffel Tower, the sellers start selling 3 key rings for 5 EUR, and I got to buy 5 key rings for 1 EUR.

Paris is a city that seems designed for the traveler's enjoyment. Its streets, squares, buildings, gardens and monuments seem designed so that anyone who visits Paris wishes to return. Visiting the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe or the Notre Dame Cathedral or strolling through some of the most picturesque neighborhoods of the city such as Montmartre are some of the experiences that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy.

I hope you enjoyed the post, soon I will be telling a little more about my trips.

We keep reading, Steemians!

Great post! Even better I agree with nearly everything that you shared!

I happened to visit over Bastille Day (their celebration of independence) and the complimentary firework show over the Eiffel Tower was absolutely stunning! This is one recommendation I make to people who are likely to only afford one trip there.

Another recommendation is the catacombs underneath the city! It is a little creepy but certainly worth seeing!

While I didn't visit Disneyland Paris, I did take a trip out to Versailles and that was incredible as well. If you have kids I understand Disneyland but if you appreciate history at all, Versailles is worth the trip.

Look forward to your posts about other travels!
