Ho Chi Minh City’s infamous backpacker district on Bui Vien has recently become a “walking street.”
Walking in Vietnam is no easy feat. Most sidewalks are cluttered with motorcycle parking, street side cafes and restaurants, constant construction, or even actively used as roads by motorbikes when traffic is bad (it’s always bad).
Every time I go outside is a near-death experience with a motorbike or a local walking into me, so the idea of a “walking street” for pedestrians is almost too much for me to handle.
I had to check it out.
Of course Vietnam's rainy season had other ideas.
Maybe one day I’ll be able to go for a walk.
