My one day experience of Death Pool, Cabongaoan Beach, Pangasinan

in #travel7 years ago

Hi fellow steemians! Summer is fast approaching! I admit that beach is the number one thing that comes to my mind when I heard about summer.

I’m going to share my experience when I get the chance to visit the Cabongaoan Beach that is located at Burgos, Pangasinan. This is where you can find the ultimate natural pool that is known as “Death Pool”.

DEATH POOL

We traveled there through van around 8AM. Since I am from Calasiao, Pangasinan, it takes only one and half hours to reach the beach. The roads are under construction that time. That is why we need to endure some rough roads going there. I think it is because they want to encourage more tourists to visit this previously undiscovered and remote location.

Since the beach is a tad remote, there are only few accommodations available in the area. Our group decided to stay for only one day. Anyway, you can also have a tent if you want too for you to feel more the beachside vibes.

I admit that it’s my first time to visit the place. I am so amazed by the calming waves, clean water, white sands that lead me to feel more the sea breeze. I couldn’t help myself from capturing pictures of it. The place was so perfect! I have no wonder why it gain a lot of attention to people and it was even featured in different T.V. shows including “Kapuso mo, Jessica Soho.”

The sound of the gentle waves will tell you that you are nearing the place.

Around 10 AM when we arrived to the beach. We stayed on a cottage, we rest for a while and prepared the food for lunch.

Of course, our summer vacation was not complete without Kuya Buds’ Lambanog (“rice wine”). I don’t know how does he made it but I am telling you, the taste was awesome!

Our cottage was so closed to this mini bar called Chics n’ Dip that is managed by these three pretty ladies naming RA, Ice and Trish. I loved their own version of margarita and tecquila. It’s kind of expensive but it’s all worth it.

Around 3PM, we decided to visit the Death Pool while the scorching heat of the sun was turning out to be unbearable. A visit to Cabongaoan beach will not be completed without witnessing the so called Death Pool. It took us a 15 minutes of walking from our cottage to the location. It is not an easy walk that you think of. We traversed large rocks and narrow pathways before reaching the ultimate natural pool. Every one of us was very cautious with our steps. It is recommended that you bring your aqua shoes just to make sure that your feet are protected.

After passing these sharp rocks, we are all greeted by the crashing sound of waves. We could now visibly see the Death Pool then. While the waves continue on crashing in, it is hard and dangerous to even take a dip. So I decided to take a dip for a short period of time. It is so much a fulfilling experience because at least, I tried.

When we are walking back in our cottage, I thought it all ends there. But there’s more, it is also a perfect place to see a beautiful sunset.

Death Pool is not a deadly destination. It is more of a thrilling and fun experience rather than dangerous one. I was so really impressed by the place. Who would have thought that the previously remote and undiscovered is now gaining a lot of attention. It was awesome and memorable trip. I couldn’t even imagine that there’s a lot of existing hidden paradise in my Province, Pangasinan. Proud to be Pangasinense!

That ends my story! Thank you for reading it. 😊

Last year we wanted to go here after staying at Sundowners, but my friends and I got lost and ended up at Patar beach instead haha. Hope to visit it someday 🙈

That’s indeed an adventure. Haha. You can try again. I think it’s now more easily to go there since the road construction is over.
