Bucket List #1: Jumped off a 35-foot cliff. I got hurt pretty badly, but grew some balls.

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

This post is inspired by a Netflix TV series called "No Tomorrow".

The show is about a guy who believes that the Earth is gonna end in few months so he decided to make a bucket list and do whatever he can in less than 3 months. Whether big or small things like finding out what will happen if you put a ball of foil into the microwave, to big things like forgiving your family member who hurt you.

Whether the apocalypse is coming or not, the TV show taught me an important thing.

To live life without regrets. Don't hold back. Just breathe.

I will be posting stuff like this from time to time. Big or small stuff that is on my bucket list. From doing something good for a homeless man to doing something weird or funny. In today's post, I wanna share a story when I scratched off a big thing on my bucket lists... Jumping off a cliff.

It is a big deal to me because I have Acrophobia - extreme or irrational fear or phobia of heights. Conquering this kind of fear was a thrilling experience, especially that I did it with my best friends.

===============

I'm pretty sure this video would explain it all...

As you can see it the video, it happened so fast.

In less than few seconds, I hit the water so hard. They said when you jumped so high, like more than 10 meters, you would hit the water like a concrete. Yes, science baby!

Here's what happened to my thighs:

3 days after cliff jumping. It got hurt pretty badly, like I was involved in a gang fight or something.

7 days later. Almost healed up but still in pain.

As you can see, it's pretty bad. I put a lot of warm and hot compress to lessen the bruising. I also also ate a lot of pumpkin so my body will recover.

Will I do it again? I just did. After landed with the wrong leg position, I massage my thighs for a little then rested for a while. After few minutes, I saw myself jumping over and over again. The experience was worth it!

Yay!!! I conquered my fear! I'm a strong woman!

This article post is dedicated for those who are fighting a battle. Big or small, you can defeat it! I believe in you.

You are a strong person, anything that's happening to you right now is just temporary. You're a fighter! You are admirable. Go get it tiger!

Women, this post is fucking great. For real.
I had once a bucket list. I didn't finished it tho.
I may watch that TV series.

I hope to see more posts like this. :D

I'm glad you like this post and inspire you in some ways. The TV series "No tomorrow" is kinda similar to Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman's movie "The Bucket List". The series is more realistic though. :-)

That was a great movie. :)

I couldn't agree more. A friend told me about a survey story in a hospital. A group of researchers asked some sick patients who have a short period of time to live. The question was "what are you going to do if you have more time on earth?" They only have one answer. Majority of them said, "To take risk". Whether in business or doing something adventurous to trying to things. When I heard that story, I got pumped up and do what I'm passionate about. -to travel.

Thanks for your support. You just gained a new follower. :-)

That's a great story. I always wanted to talk with old people so I can know what are their biggest regrets.

"Taking risks means to give yourself new opportunities. When you're taking a risk you're giving yourself the opportunity of doing something new."

I tried to quote one of my mentors. It's not exactly as he said it but it's close. :)

@guyfawkes4-20 (great name, by the way) if you want to follow me or check out my blog, I've got a few adventures on there, including an intro video of SOME of the mad things I've done. @pinaynomad and I are encouraging each other. (I'm also re-blogging a Utah road trip I did four years ago.)

I just did. That video looks amazing :D

It's very enlightening when you talk to old people because it will open your mind to new possibilities. All we gotta do when an opportunity opens is to grab it! don't let go, just grab it like you want it! :)

Exactly! Just fucking do it. I totally agree with you :D

Perhaps that fear of heights was rational after all.

the power of mindset. :-)

Thank you Chinito. You must like Yeng Constantino song, "chinito". :)

That was awesome!!! Well done. It takes serious bravery to jump off anything. I have a holiday coming up in a month or two and I'm trying to find a way to "jump off something" while I'm over there. Keep up the ballsy work.

haha! just be safe @gidget and make sure there are no big rocks when you landed in the water. When I jumped, the water level was very high. It's like more than 20 feet or something. It would be nice if there's a life guard so he can save you in case something happens. :)

i'm gonna have to watch this show

ya you better! watching the show made me realized that I should live life without regrets and just enjoy what life has to offer. :)
