Mark is right, most of the time they don‘t ask for that but technically you would need one, yes. For our flight to Thailand we used https://bestonwardticket.com/ so we did not have to take care of cancelling the ticket afterwards, it takes place automatically. So if you want to make sure nobody stops you at the airport, this might be a good solution.
