Wat Phra That Mae Yen is the real thai name for this temple with a large white Buddha perched on the top of a hill which is accessible by climbing a lot of very steep steps, not forgetting Thailand is very hot and for those who are on the very heavy side or have difficulty walking i wouldn't recommend it but once you reach the top the view is amazing. Overlooking Pai, this small town nestled and tucked away in the mountains of Northern Thailand and reached from Chiang Mai about a three hours ride through 762 curves on the famous mountain road.
The first time i came to see the white Buddha i damaged my knee due to a motorbike accident so i was unable to climb the steps, but a few months later i finally made it. I'm stood at the top of the last few steps.
The view from the top, below.
Another view from the start of the steps, but it's still elevated and a steep motorbike ride to get there.
The sun was very hot which i love and i can't get enough of the beautiful star, below is another photo of me with Buddha.
Stunning photography. Keep it up.
Same place another set of steps.
I love that Buddha!! and yep, you gotta be fit to make the merit of all thise steps!! Nice post, David.
Thanks Marike! Very hot day and what a view, relaxing ride on the motorbike and clean air can't beat it.
