I didn't like tuk tuks. They may be useful but look weird in European cities. Something is not right, it's like watching an animal outside its natural habitat.
BUT IN BANGKOK... I ABSOLUTELLY LOVE THEM!
They fit perfectly in the city. No wonder, right? They are originally from Bangkok and it's easy to understand why. The daily routines and traffic are perfect for motorcycles (tons of scooters there) but the taxis are essential mainly for tourists, so they developed something in between: the famous tuk tuk.
They're usually more expensive than taxis but they can surely tackle traffic and provide an awesome experience. It's not the most comfortable ride and you probably won't feel super safe but chances are you won't feel safe in a taxi either. The traffic is craaaaazy but fortunately the drivers are very skilled!
Here is a short video of one ride during SteemFest4:

In Rajasthan, India, we went to a very nice hotel for dinner, then requested the front desk to hail us a tuk-tuk for the ride home for the experience. The hotel was slow to comply, but finally did. They insisted on calling the tuk-tuk an "auto-rickshaw," the first and last time we ever heard that phrase !!
