I am walking from France to Portugal - Camino Santiago - Summer Packing List

in #travel7 years ago

In the middle of August, I will be walking from France to Portugal along the Camino de Santiago. This is the list of stuff I plan to bring along with me. I will make a future post with more details about the Camino de Santiago for anyone that is interested. Short version is, the Camino is an ancient trail across Northern Spain, it is now a Catholic Pilgrimage, but the same route was used back into Pagan times, it has multiple routes starting from different locations and ending in Santiago de Compostella, after which you can continue on until the coast, or Portugal(which is my plan).

I took this photo last year, somewhere near Burgos, Spain

One thing to note, I am taking much more stuff/weight than recommended by guide books, and people. The last time I was on the Camino, I really wished I had brought more clothing. Some of the small towns do not have laundry mats, and sink-washing can be a burden if it is even possible. The way I look at it, if it gets too heavy, I can just throw some stuff away. But, carrying a heavier pack will improve my strength if I can deal with it.

Backpack (s)

Gregory Stout 45L Backpack

AONIJIE Waist Pack

Basic Jansport Daypack

Amazon Basics Money Belt

Multiple sized various dry-sacks, stuff-sacks, and compression sacks(I will not use all, may give some away on Camino).

Woah dude, that is awesome!

Bringing more things than recommended by guide won't that wear you down?

Yes it will. But, I feel like this is part of my journey. I can always just throw stuff away or mail it home if it gets too bad.

Good post mate. Followed and upvoted mate.

I always wanted to do El Camino... Maybe one of this days :)
Seems like you're packing nice but be careful not to over pack! You have to carry all your stuff with you all the time :)
Have a safe journey and Good luck!
