'On My Way To Mount Cook' - New Zealand ⛰

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Complete Freedom

Spending 1 month travelling around the South Island of New Zealand in a van was definitely one of the major highlights out of all of my travelling experiences so far.

Take Your Time

Not having to rush to a fixed schedule, being able to take your time in each place, to savor every moment that much more, to slow down and really absorb the environment and stunning natural setting. That is the kind of freedom of travel I love the most.

And it is why when somebody asks me some advice on going to a place I have visited, I almost always say; "Allow yourself more time".

Travel In A Van

Travelling in a van will allow you to drive up to a beautiful spot you have found, or to a place where it is most convenient, park, camp, and sleep pretty much wherever you want to. When you visit Mount Cook, you can drive up to the campsite and sleep under the stars, looking at Mount Cook as it glows in the night's sky.

You will also be able to stop anywhere on the road that interests you, at anytime, making the travel experience many time more enjoyable than on some kind of tour bus.

This is a photo of me walking on the rocks over pristine waters, leading to Mount Aoraki/Mount Cook, the tallest mountain in New Zealand.
