7 cheap places to visit in Brazil

in #travel7 years ago

How cheap it is up to you. You can travel by spending very little, in the hostel backpacker style or even camping specialist. You can spend more, stay in comfortable hotels and eat in good restaurants, but maintaining a great cost / benefit ratio. I decided to list nine cheap places to visit in Brazil.

Note that I am not saying that they are the most economical possible, but only travel ideas that fit in the pocket. Let's get on the road?

Chapada dos Veadeiros

I have a friend who spent 10 days in Chapada dos Veadeiros and spent R$ 600 (~USD 200). I spent more and I'm sure there are people who spend less yet. That's what I said at the beginning: it all depends on your travel style. In any case, a combination of factors makes Chapada dos Veadeiros, in Goiás, an economic destination.

The first one is the displacement until then. Because of the great offer, flying to Brasilia is usually cheap, especially if you buy in advance. Anyone who is already in the Midwest or Southeast can still go ashore - that's what my friend did, starting with BH.
About 260 km separate the Chapada from the federal capital. There, in addition to options for cheap hotels, campgrounds and hostels, weighs in favor of the cost of the attractions: either they are very cheap, R$ 20 (~USD 6) admission, or they are free. The rest is food and drink.

Brasília, Pirenópolis e Goiás Velho

Goiás guarantees another destination in this list. Or rather, two. Pirenópolis and Goiás Velho, which together with Brasilia form a perfect itinerary for a five or six day trip. Piri is 170 km from the federal capital, while Goiás Velho is 168 more ahead.

Speaking of it, Goiás Velho is Cultural Patrimony of Humanity. And Piri also has a gorgeous historical center and several waterfalls around the city, all with economy-style entrance. Hotels are also cheap - just be careful with holidays, especially the carnival, when the town is full. In Brasilia the movement is the opposite, and hotel rates tend to fall on weekends.

BH, Inhotim and historical cities

BH is one of the most cost-effective destinations in the country. To start with the flights, which can be economical - and those who are already in the southeast (or in Brasilia) can come by bus, even on a night trip. In addition, the World Cup has given BH a lot of hotels. And the consequence are daily for interesting prices.

In addition to BH, take the opportunity to meet Inhotim, which is 60 km from the capital of Minas Gerais, and Ouro Preto, which is less than 100 km away. By the way, around BH there are three World Heritage Sites: Congonhas is less than 70 km and Pampulha is in BH itself. It is possible to combine everything in the same trip and even to stretch to other destinations, such as Serra do Cipó, Tiradentes and Diamantina, another UNESCO-listed city.

Vale dos Vinhedos

I am the first to agree with anyone who says Gramado is not an economic destination, even by the type of tourism that has developed there. Although the most interesting tourist attraction in the city is free - walking through the streets full of colonial houses - the traveler generally spends a lot of money to get into the most diverse attractions that spread throughout the region.

Not so with the Valley of the Vineyards. There you even spend, but if you choose to eat in good restaurants, the biggest attractions in the area. In addition, wine tours are usually free, tickets to Porto Alegre are not usually expensive, and distance from the capital of Rio Grande do Sul to Bento Gonçalves, a kind of heart of the Vinhedos Valley, does not scare us: 120 km. There you will find hotels of all kinds, but in the city center there are some economical options.

Ilha do Marajó

When we think of the Amazon, we think of an expensive trip. And this may even be true depending on the Amazon destination you choose, but it is not always so. The Marajó Island, in Pará, is a boat trip from Belém and has hotels with great prices. The cost of the tours and the food there is also interesting. That is, the only challenge is to find an inexpensive way to fly to Belém. It is not impossible: I went with only eight thousand miles and I have also seen the segment a few times in promotion.

Farms, river beaches and the largest herd of buffalo in Brazil make the Island of Marajó a destination, let's say different. And you're still going to get to know Bethlehem, which would be worth a trip by itself.

Espírito Santo

I never hid that I am a fan of the Holy Spirit, for me one of the most underrated songs in Brazil. In ES there are beautiful beaches, mountains and cities of European immigration, all this around Vitória. Speaking of her, the capital of Espírito Santo is beautiful. The view from the Convent of Penha does not let me lie. And just hit the road to find Itaúnas, a beach destination that deserved to be on that most beautiful list of Brazil.

Flights to the ES are not usually expensive (respected the rule in advance, of course). And the hotels and lodges also has economic prices. Guarapari, the largest resort in the state of Espírito Santo, was once designated as one of the cities with the cheapest hotels in the country.

Cabo Frio e Região dos Lagos

A word of caution: in the Réveillon Cabo Frio is expensive. Very expensive, at least in terms of lodging. I learned this last March and was surprised to pay more to sleep in Cabo Frio than in Buzios or even Paraty, cities I visited on the same trip. But in other times the price falls and the waters of the Lake Region remain in that shade of blue that not only the Caribbean knows how to do. To improve, Búzios and Arraial do Cabo are nearby.

Many people go by car, especially those who are in the neighborhood, like Minas Gerais and even Rio de Janeiro. If you need to go flying, arriving in Cabo Frio from the capital is easy: 160 km separate the two cities.
